These 12 year-old tax returns are a head-fake by Trump to distract. They are irrelevant.
The resistance and the press need to keep focus on what’s ahead. Listen closely, and you can hear the drums of war getting slowly louder. North Korea seems the likely target.
My money is on drump being the leaker to try to distract from everything else.
What is the statute of limitations on tax debts? If it’s ten years, this reveal is kind of a so what. Besides the really interesting stuff probably is more recent, especially since the 2009 bankruptcy. While this does count as a drop of transparency from a person in high political office with zero transparency otherwise, the demand should be for more recent stuff. It’s a lot to digest: over 100 corporate entities and possibly incomplete filings. But for the sake of the country, Trump should show us the record or step down. He can’t continue with this ruse.
I believe it too. Plus, why 2005? Probably the only year where things appeared to be relatively harmless. Where he actually paid something. In the hopes that everyone finds it a yawn and gives up.
Of course, there is always the possibility that he later filed an amended return, and the numbers are different…?

Curious that the copy Johnston obtained (legally), out of the blue, anonymously, just in time to add another distraction, is stamped “Client Copy” on Page 2, isn’t it?
And as others have noted, he no doubt had to go back over a decade to find a return that showed some actual income.
I’m in the camp that believes Donald sent these pages to the reporter. I think he did so to try and distract attention from a few things: the growing Russia-gate issue; the crashing AHCA bill; and his bald-faced lie about President Obama ordering wiretapping of Trump Tower. The man is a psychologically ill, a pathological liar, basically a thief, a braggadocio and narcissistic to the nth degree. Donald is attempting to call the shots in the media … again.

still think he heard or saw something in the media that he knew could only come from some sort of surveillance, and he just assumed it HAD to be OBAMA, Trump considers himself too important for just any-old-spy. Then shot off his mouth with that speculation in another midnight tweet, before anyone could tell him how guilty he sounded…
