Gee, it’s almost as if he’s using the power of his office to go after a perceived enemy.
Anything that distracts him from nuking someone is a worthy pursuit at this point, which I think/hope/pray to dog is close to end game maneuver-events by OSC.
Once again, Trump has it exactly backwards. It’s not Amazon that’s driving USPS under water – it’s Congress.
A task force? I’m pretty certain the post office already knows what’s going on. Maybe he should try talking to someone at the Postmaster General’s office.
The USPS is in financial trouble because they have to adhere to standards (enforced by those who want it to die) that other corporations do not have to do; namely funding 75% of their pension liability.
There is not much difference between most of Postal Management and Trump.
Faulty premise. Trump doesn’t want to know what’s going on. The purpose of presidential task forces and commissions under Trump, like his fraudulent voter commission, is to confirm Trump’s biases. If a task force or commission actually finds out what’s going on, its report will be suppressed.
Did Amazon’s sale of a certain book contribute to his pissing contest with Bezos?
This is because Bezos owns the Washington Post. And in a sane political world an article of impeachment would have been written the day he started up over Amazon. This doesn’t happen in a rule-of-law democracy.
Under any other Presidency, I think this could be a helpful, enlightening study. Unfortunately, Trump and the GOP…
Need I say more?
Coming soon: Trump Mail®. First thing, all of the vehicles have to be rebranded, so there’s going to be one hell of a painting contract. Then they’ll be adding champagne and caviar with every letter delivery. The vans need some jazzing up, too - maybe marble cabs, and faux-gold steering wheels. Of course, it will now cost $13.95 to send a postcard, but don’t worry - customers will gladly pay for the upgraded service.
Oh, and one more thing - all of this will be funded by 30 different banks, each of whom will suffer a multi-million dollar loss when it all goes south, in about 15 months.
Republicans have been trying to kill the USPS for years and it’s better than ever. What the fuck is their problem especially since so many vets work there?
Right? Impeachable offense for any other president #39,358!
They didn’t teach history at Trump University…
There is a method to Trump’s madness in that he follows Orban’s playbook. The difference is that Orban pushed nationalist policies, then got the EU to pay for it. In Trump’s case, we’ve seen different groups such as blue states, China and future generations tapped to foot the bill for his policies (currently down by $1 trillion and counting). The EU may have a vested interest in watching how right-wing governance plays out, as surely Chinese investors do in the US. But if you are a future generation, you have nobody protecting you and if you are in a blue state, you’re going to figure out you are being screwed pretty fast.
The Duke of Dementia’s dick fight with Jeff Bezos is unseemly and unproductive. I suspect that most Americans will see this for what it is, a distraction and an insincere attempt to smear Amazon and the Washington Post. Sad little man trudges a sad path. I wonder how many U.S. schools display a photo of the Fat Bastard as they have in the past for sitting presidents.
Exactly. He makes a fraudulent claim as part of a rant. He get’s hooked on the response (both the teeny moment of relief he gets in the act of sending off the rant - and in the reaction that it creates) so keep returning to the rant. Even when his staff, as is the case in this rant, briefs him (with pictures and powerpoints) that the rant is factually incorrect, he keeps returning to the rant - like a junky jonesing. Then create a commission (and spend a boatload of money) to “prove” the rant true. Which so far hasn’t happened - because this is a rich man’s folly- that has now been drug into the govt sphere and is now funded by we the taxpayers.
Other companies are required (for some value of “required”) to fund pension liabilities, or at least pretend to, for their current work force. It’s only the USPS that has to fund the retirement of workers not yet born.
And if the post office is privatized, all that pension money is potentially available for “recapture” from an “overfunded” plan.
I wonder who will be on this task force, because the only sensible answer is to undo the punitive pension rules.
