Discussion: Trump Counterterrorism Adviser Says Russia Did In Fact Hack U.S. Election

In other words, I guess we’ll never know.

I keep thinking people who publically contradict his awfulness like this will be fired. But it appears the administration isn’t organized enough to recognize completely contradictory messages.

I don’t see where he said that the elections were ā€œhackedā€ which has real meaning. ā€œInterferingā€ is not ā€œhackingā€ though ā€œhackingā€ is a type of ā€œinterferenceā€.

Come on TPM, you are better than the bait-headines.

Edit: The Politico article is a little more clear about ā€œhackingā€ itself (Russia behind DNC hacks and attempted State Election Board hacks) but the TPM take on that article is a little weak in matching the headline.

The whole Trump not admitting Russians hacked the election thing is tedious.

He’s crooked. Probably compromised. Definitely financially beholden. Trump isn’t interested in fixing the problem of election hacking, so who gives a s%*t what he thinks about it? We already know he doesn’t care what we think anyway.

Expose him and end him, media. Stop dwelling on whatever nonsense he said last. It’s all lies anyway.

Trump has repeatedly questioned claims from 17 U.S. intelligence officials that the Russian government interfered in the election.

Quickly jumps out of a figurative window, before @geofu54 tags me on this…

Obama’s response wasn’t strong enough? Ok…but what’s your response? You gonna kiss Putin’s ass till he begs for mercy?

Amen. Sick of this. Life insurance is not health insurance. The presidency is not about getting to sit in big trucks.

This guy and Kobach have convinced me that the results of the '16 election are null and void. When’s the new election scheduled for?

ā€œPresident Donald Trump’s chief counterterrorism adviser said Thursday it’s ā€œpretty clearā€ that the Russian government tried to interfere in the 2016 presidential election and that he didn’t think the former President Barack Obama administration went far enough to deal with the hack.ā€

While criticizing President Obama for a limp response, thus far Trump has offered no response and a number of concessions, including cooperation in cyber espionage.

That level of contradiction (Trump vs. the majority of the GOP) has been in play for nearly nine months. Though the Trump officials who work for him clearly believe that its Russia who’s the culprit, they often skate around Trump’s involvement, often in an attempt to downplay it (example: Lindsey Graham).

its amazing that no one is asking Bossert about that Post story intracies, namely about that executive order that ā€˜44’ signed involving cyber mines.

And has openly debated the merits of reversing what response Obama did implement.

Apparently, Obama was too lax and only confiscated the two spy operations-based Russian compounds – so the Trumpskies want to give them back to Putin with no concessions?

OT

Trump’s ā€œred lineā€ in his unhinged NYT interview yesterday just got crossed.

Winning!

OK Let’s review what we all now know
Russia hacked - illegally gained access to emails & information and then took actions to manipulate the outcome
Trump Team - knew the Russians had illicitly gained information and had a meeting with the Russians to obtain access to this information.
so - Trump collaborated with Russia

and for the moment let’s set aside this crap about Obama not being stern enough in the punishment - that at most is a error of omission & is nothing but a lame smoke screen - it has nearly zero relevance to the treasonous crimes - crimes of commission that have occured by Trump & his minions.

The contradictions are a feature, not a bug. It’s a willful muddying of the waters.

So this guy is saying that Obama should be promised for not having arrested his boss who is not guilty of anything because fake news. Gotcha.
