Discussion: Trump Corrects Himself: I Meant 'I Don't See Any Reason Why It WOULDN'T Be Russia'

Bad gateway. Bad, bad gateway.

I think it’s about time for TPM to pony up for the full version of the commenting software. This trial version sucks. I got about three or four “502 - Bad Gateway” errors before I could like something.

He’s dissembling like crazy because everyone in sight — even a few foxy “friends” — are giving him shit. He made a complete and total traitorous ass of himself yesterday while the whole world watched. He was a sniveling, weak, lying, coward who threw his country under the bus while Putin gloated. It was his lowest low so far, which puts this sickening performance about 50 feet below sea level.

Trump has well and truly blown it this time. Mueller is comin’ round the mountain, and Trump just declared his alligence to Putin. Not a good look, and it isn’t going away.

And yet he still doesn’t condemn Russia for its attack on our Democracy…

ANYONE who does not instantly think “Bad news, buddy, I’m not an imbecile” when they read this, is one.

In other corrections: did he say “Russia” in the sentence? He really meant to say “Liechtenstein”. These two get confused so often. So, he really meant “I don’t see any reason why it would be Liechtenstein”. Or “wouldn’t be Liechtenstein”. Whatever. Same difference. Don’t forget, the President has all the best words. Fake news. Black is white. Day is night.

We’re doomed.

This is such a lying piece of psycho shit we need some more indictments now.

The sad part is that this will probably work pretty well. The media are always looking for a ‘both sides’ narrative, and here they got one. When the issue is raised, they’ll now always add, “However, the President said he misspoke, and meant…”

For low information voters that are only watching this stuff peripherally, that’s enough doubt. They’ll shrug and say “who ya gonna believe?” and continue to mostly ignore the growing conflagration.

My pessimism cup overfloweth lately…

I do think they’re swallowing this.

I am truly dismayed that this was the result of the 2p (eastern) conference with the GOP. That’s all this was. All the speculation about the SCOTUS nomination and the possibility of firing Mueller and this is what we got.

And no one from Congress, on either side, is stepping up to say enough is enough.

When a bag of ferrets on meth meets Sarah Palin = Trumpese.

“In a key sentence in my remarks said the word would instead of wouldn’t,” [Dump] said. “The sentence should have been, ‘I don’t see any reason why I wouldn’t or why it wouldn’t be Russia.’ … Sort of a double negative. So you can put that in, and I think that probably clarifies things pretty good by itself.”

Maybe it was a Freudian slip, like when you say one thing but you mean your mother.

Or maybe it was a schadenfreudian slip.

Pay attention, because this is LITERALLY how little it takes for Faux News and the rest to go whole-hog in with him and rewrite history and reality into a narrative that “well, by gosh, he’s right…everything went swimmingly and if had just been more careful not to mix up that one word, it would have been a smashing success!!!”
