Republicans were enraged last year and in 2017 when Congress passed budgets that did not include their fever dreams of defunding the ACA, DACA, Planned Parenthood, the EPA, PBS, and the State Department – and all those other nanny state liberal goodies that they were bound to decimate in this, their moment of triumph.
They had the numbers. They had the White House, the Senate, the House.
Their maniacal hearts were pounding in their chests, their eyes were blazing, their trigger fingers were twitching over all the mayhem they were planning.
They were similarly apoplectic in 2011, peak Tea Party times.
But Nancy Pelosi knew. As she told Trump, just before the shutdown, about wall funding.
“You don’t have the votes.”
Nancy knew.
Even when they had a numerical majority and held both branches of Congress, they didn’t have a governing majority.
Nancy knew.
Nancy can count.
Nancy can legislate.
And now Nancy is going to show them how it’s done, how we can do border patrol without hurting people or changing the character of our welcoming American system. We’ll hear about border security, increased funding for guards, patrols, immigration judges, technology, E-verify, immigration reform.
But no wall.
And Nancy will lead the way.
