Discussion: Trump, Congress Close To Deal To End Shutdown Until Mid-February

I believe we have seen the last of the Wall being an issue
Thank you Ms Pelosi for not bending a nanometer.
Even the stupid fat fuck knows the air has gone out of the argument except for 25% of the brain addled individuals who still support it

Nah. Now, Trump might think that. I don’t think Republicans in the Senate are interested in walking the plank for him, again, when they know they’ll get nothing but ire and bad press, again.

He flashed his whole ass and showed, once again, that when the cards are on the table he’ll blink. He’ll blink every time. He’s the weakest man in Washington and the whole world knows it.

Trump was in a no win situation of his own making, and just got crushed by Pelosi for at least the fourth time. First, at that televised Oval Office meeting where Trump stupidly took responsibility for the shutdown. Then, when she disinvited him from giving the SOTU address and again, yesterday, when she reinforced her message, making him blink. And now, the worst butt-kicking of all - where he backs down having to accept no money for his wall, rendering this entire ridiculous affair completely meaningless.

And Republicans followed him every step of the way off a cliff. Because in the process, he lost 6 Republican Senate votes yesterday, in addition to causing significant backbiting and infighting within their usually united caucus. They can probably see the 2020 election is a loser with Trump as the nominee, and as the Mueller probe starts entering the inner sanctum, he may not have the support he thinks he has within the Republican Senate, and parts of his base may have started tuning him out. I think this may be a watershed moment.

I saw a quote from McConnell in yesterday’s WaPo to the effect that there is no education in the second kick of the mule. Trump would be stupid to test that proposition, but then again, he’s Trump.

He also swore that he wasn’t going to sign those type of bills anymore.

Man, it’s gotta be rough for an unhealthy elderly man to continue to eat his words.

Pelosi would still have to offer a concurrent resolution in order for him to be allowed to talk. And say insulting and stupid things.

A concurrent resolution is a resolution (a legislative measure) adopted by both houses of a bicameral legislature that lacks the force of law (is non-binding) and does not require the approval of the chief executive (president). Concurrent resolutions are typically adopted to regulate the internal affairs of the legislature that adopted them, or for other purposes, if authority of law is not necessary (such as in the cases of awards or recognitions).

All it took for Trump to reopen the gov’t was for Mueller to prove ā€˜collusion’.

When this deal is agreed to, Trump’s shutdown is over. He will not be able to shut down the gov’t again without massive political costs. The campaign for 2020 will be dominated by shutdown ads, warning people that you can’t afford the chaos this dumb motherf***er will bring. I don’t think there’s anywhere good left for Trump to go other than to resign, sign a plea deal and head to Mar a Lago.

If he can give some dirt on Pence as a taster and we indict him too, then Nancy might have a shot to ascend to the Presidency.

That bill is almost identical to the current proposal, which Trump suddenly seems willing to support after refusing to as recently as yesterday afternoon.

To be fair to Trump, this shift has resulted largely from an unplanned change in the WH calendar: Yesterday afternoon was BRP standard time (Before Roger’s Perp-walk). Today is ARP standard time.

HE DIDN’T BUILD THAT … WALL!
[/quote]Au contraire!

Mexico paid for every single inch of wall that Democrats agreed to build in this fiasco. Donald Trump: promises made, promises kept.
