Discussion: Trump Compliments Possible VP Pick Joni Ernst After Private Sit-Down

Drumpf really is the gift that keeps on giving! Choosing Ernst would give voters in the swing state of Iowa a chance to express their regret for having been so foolish as to elect her in the first place.

Trump RosettaStone:

Boy, and did you see the howitzers on her? She’s got everything to make america great again as a vice-president – a nice can, legs up to here, and man can she grill a mean steak after she’s finished ripping the nuts off a hog. She’ll definitely be able to walk two steps behind me in public.

Too bad she wouldn’t lose her seat in the Senate – not like it would matter though, as GOP Terry Branstad would just pick her replacement.

Well, I must say she’d make one hell of an impression walking across the stage at the RNC convention with those bread bags on her feet!

Wow, a twofer! Not only does Joni know how to castrate those hogs, she could be the first bona fide Kochsucker to ever be in line for the Presidency.

The one that brags about castrating pigs? Ya better watch out Trump; you get into bed with Joni and one night, when you least expect it…

Why is it that people believe that nominating a woman for VP helps a candidate with women? Didn’t McCain try that back in 2008? It was the last act of a desperate man and, believe it or not, drove more voters away from him than helped.

Trump is loathsome to the majority of women. The man treats women he finds attractive like their his personal living dolls meant to be used to decorate his arm and the rest of us like we’re dirt.

He won’t select Ernst…nor do I think she would be likely to accept even if he did offer.

His campaign has already said that selecting a woman isn’t in the cards because it would look like pandering (which it would). The GOP at large, not that Trump is listening to them, is still licking their wounds from having Palin as the VP candidate, so there is a general reluctance to return to that well.

As for Ernst, she just got elected to the Senate, and has, by all accounts, an actual career ahead of her. Why would she wish to destroy that by running with Trump? There is no up side for her at all…even if Trump were to somehow win, she can’t run in 2020, Trump winning a second term is an even more difficult task than winning just one, and she wouldn’t be well positioned even in 2024.

A case can be made for a young Senator to take a risk and run for President, as Obama did. A good case cannot be made for a young Senator to run as VP.

Any time the media uses “Iowa Sentaor” and “Donald Trump” together in a sentence is a bad day for Chuck Grassley. So a pick like this could lead to some tough months ahead for ol’ Chuck. Kind of hard not to acknowledge the existence of your party’s nominee when your junior colleague is on his ticket.

“Great Senator. Nice rack. And she hates Jews almost as much as I do!”

Please, dear universe, let it be Gingrich.

I see that Florida has toxic slime…like its governor. Now Trump qualifies for that moniker along with Joni Ernst. Her extreme views are an embarrassment to our nation.

That would be my wish as well, my friend.

Ernst, in Tin Foil Agenda 21 mode:

“One of the implications to Americans, again, going back to what did it do to the individual family here in the state of Iowa, and what I’ve seen, the implications that it has here is moving people off of their agricultural land and consolidating them into city centers, and then telling them that you don’t have property rights anymore. These are all things that the UN is behind, and it’s bad for the United States and bad for families here in the state of Iowa.”

Ernst and her novel interpretation of the Constitution and passing Federal legislation:

“You know we have talked about this at the state legislature before, nullification. But, bottom line is, as U.S. Senator why should we be passing laws that the states are considering nullifying? Bottom line: our legislators at the federal level should not be passing those laws. We’re right…we’ve gone 200-plus years of federal legislators going against the Tenth Amendment’s states’ rights. We are way overstepping bounds as federal legislators. So, bottom line, no we should not be passing laws as federal legislators—as senators or congressman—that the states would even consider nullifying. Bottom line.”

The thing is, I’m not sure that he’s going to be able to find a “moderating voice” VP candidate. Almost all of those kinds of VP candidates want nothing to do with him, and the ones who want to be his VP are all kind of Palin-esque.

The flip side is that it is probably going to be easier for Clinton to find a more Progressive VP candidate (though I doubt Warren or Sanders)

I bet everyone he met with turned him down. He is making a big deal of the meetings to cover for the fact that no one wants anything to do with him.

A Tenther—that would make her a perfect running mate for Trump. Whether or not she’d want to take the chance of tying herself to Trump is a good question, but I think she’d be a good choice for him—she’s basically Palin with less obvious nuttery to most Americans, who automatically genuflect towards farmers and the military, and she covers both those bases.

Put it this way: she’d be a much smarter pick for Trump than would be the bloated tick Gingrich.

Its going to be Christie. I believe all we are seeing now is just enough of a production going on so as not to raise the question of quid pro quo with Christie. And quite frankly, everyone mentioned, even Christie, are largely bottom of the barrel types…Ernst is probably the closest thing to a “star” in the GOP universe that he has spoken with.

This choice isn’t about who he wants, its about who will accept. And Christie has the advantage of not only being willing to accept, but to publicly grovel for the opportunity to grovel.
