the only thing I hate worse than Trump are the talking heads who claim he âscored bigâ by being the same abrasive jackass heâs been for the past year+âŚblows my frigginâ mindâŚ
You nailed it. Weâve got Drumpf saying âShe should be in jailâ, followed at the end by Chuck Todd saying âTrump did much betterâŚâ
Agreed â other than the usual fact checking sites, most of the press wonât delve into the issues. It will all be about who won the horserace. âTrump acted far more presidential in this debateâ (ignoring most of his citations are based on falsehoods), and âHillary spent much of the debate on her heels defending her history of scandalsâ, etc.
The talking heads on MSNBC seem determined to make Trump the quasi winner of this sorry town hall. I thought the moderators were never going to get the questions of the people on the stage. No questions on climate changeâŚHillary finally brought that up. The Donald once again sniffed through the entire thing â what the hell is that about? And finally, after the debate was over Hillary immediately started talking to the people seated on the risers while Trump, surround by his children, wife, headed for the exit. Someone must have suggested to him that maybe he should try to interact with some of the people on the stage. Melania looked lost isolated in the middle of the stage talking to no one. Great First Lady material.
Isnât projection amazing? Every time I see republicans do it, Iâm still gobsmacked. I should have learned by now, but I guess thatâs why itâs so effective.
Say the man who spews Breitbart âhateâ for 90 minutes.
But yetâŚwith Kaine and Pence it was PENCE who won by being quiet and Kaine that was âfrenziedââŚ
Almost all his insults are projection. Didnât HRC say something to that effect in Debate-the-First?
Well, Josh Marshall called this debate, within the narrow context of an isolated event, as a draw. Marshall, however, concedes that Clintonâs current lead in the campaign means this debate draw pans out as a win for her in the long run.
I am a retired university debating team coach who has adjudicated numerous debates, and tonight Clinton won by a significant margin. She made many more valid, relevant and accurate points and counterpoints than Trump. She also was able to establish a better connection with those who asked her questions, not to mention that she actually adhered to the topic of their questions more clearly than Trump.
As with the Veep debate, I understand that the plethora of blatant lies, wild exaggerations and vague generalizations such as Trump spouted tonight do not matter a scintilla to the television pundits who greatly influence the public perception of who wins any debate. But that has nothing whatsoever to do with the necessary factual argumentation with which Clinton won this debate according to the actual criteria that debates are adjudicated outside the MSM bubble (Van Jones excepted).
As a longtime TPM reader, I have had boundless respess for Josh Marshallâs judgement. To say that I find his weakly supported analysis that this debate was a draw to be an singular disappointment does not meet the meaning of the word.
You really ought to email Josh with your comment.
Itâs a very good comment that comes from a very informed place. He would probably talk about it.
Thank you for that suggestion, Tena.
I echo Tensâa suggestion.
Watching Trump at this debate was like watching some punk kid take a dump in the public swimming pool. Just ignore the purpose of why weâre all there, and ruin the spirit of the event for everyone. Trump is irredeemable.
Trump could have selected the most incendiary lines out of the latest gift from Assange/Wikileaks about her secret Wall Street speeches and made them part and parcel of his case against her economic agenda throughout the 90 minutes. Instead, he wasted far too much time and credibility with irrational accusations, the most absurd of which was that Clinton has hatred in her heart.
Itâs that âvalid, accurate and relevantâ thing that seems to have gone by the board.
