Discussion: Trump: Clinton Has Given 'A Nod' To 'Narrative Of Cops As A Racist Force'

Nope. She’s simply acknowledged a known FACT.

So over this horrible excuse for a human.

The issues surrounding these shootings are incredibly complex. Last night on The Daily Show, Lisa Ling noted that there are different levels of training with regards to things like deescalation, confrontation of suspected criminals, and so forth. This plays into the number of shootings. After all, most of them are in the South, or so it appears. Noah the day before noted that there seems to be this assumption of criminality made by police when approaching a Black suspect that is out of proportion with the reality. Racism plays a part in it, but so does an assumption of criminal life being worth less than the lives of non-criminals. When you add the fact that gun laws are to the point of being bizarre, we’re hitting a point where cops feel threatened no matter what.

But, of course, Trump’s entire view is round up all the ‘thugs’ (Blacks), and terrorists (Muslims).

Said America’s #1 dog whistle racist. Trump has perfected the Pee Wee Herman campaign style: I know you are but what am I?

The reflexive schoolyard bully projection. Whatever insult he hurls at an opponent, or merely someone who punctured his fragile ego, comes directly from that little inner voice, which I suspect sounds a lot like Fred’s, telling him that’s what he really is. Whatever he accuses an opponent of doing is a thing he is actually doing.

I simply do not recall an accusation or insult of his that this doesn’t apply to. Even the birtherism: Obama a liar and a fraud because phony birth certificate? Yeah, says the professional grifter.

Unlike that elitist Clinton, Trump has been down with 'hood all his life – surviving day-to-day on the hardscrabble streets of his Trump Tower penthouse, hustling out a living on his private jet, with only his brownshirts out there in the audience to protect him from the scary Code Pink women who bleed from everywhere all over everything.

Of course this is the same guy who said that Tulsa police officer “got scared” or was “choking.” How’s that narrative working for you?

Oh goodness. Never fear poor people. Here comes Donald Trump with more lupins.

This helicopter could just as well have “Trump” written across it:

The % figure is for number of training academies that require skill.
The hours figure is amount of time devoted to acquiring the skill

Noteworthy items are just how few hours are taken on subjects like community policing, mediation skills, problem solving. Now add up the hours spent and we have training of less than 3 months if your academy offers every course, NONE do. Yea, police are highly trained, my azz…

Why was HO in Aston, PA? What’s the racial mix in Ashton? What’s the majority race of Ashton’s LEO’s?
Hey Trumpy make this speech on the Southside of Chicago, Ferguson, MO, or any other urban area.

Some of the training is offered after the academy. Our Burlington Police are currently undergoing intensive training on how to deal with the mentally ill and unstable, such as PTSD sufferers and those with paranoid schizophrenia. I’m not saying that your point is invalid, though. The training across the country is uneven and not very comprehensive.

I used to work at a university where they offered classes covering many of the subjects that were not covered by the police academies including mediation skills. The problem was that such courses were not mandatory and often had police officers who showed their biases pretty quickly. There is a lot we need to do with regards to police officer training which is not getting done, sadly, and it is costing people’s lives.

This is a part of Trump that’s too little commented on: The world is black and white–and I don’t mean in the sense of race. Cops are either racist or not. But we know that some cops are racist (even some black and Hispanic cops), and others are not. In Trump’s world, that’s too complicated to imagine.

"He criticized Clinton and accused her of not caring about those living in poverty in the U.S.

“Hillary Clinton does not have to worry about the sirens and the gunshots. She doesn’t worry about it. She’s sleeping, she’s sleeping,” Trump said, according to the Washington Post. “No, it’s the poor family living in the inner city, it’s the poor mother who feels like a refugee in her own country. Hillary Clinton doesn’t want to hear their voices, so I will be their voice.”

Please enumerate the ways you have helped the those living in poverty? What programs or scholarships have you started to lift people out of poverty?

This - from a guy that
claimed to not know who the KKK and David Duke was and took a long time to denounce him?
Is a birther who used a press conference intended to address Obama being born in US as a way to have a hotel infomercial?
Talked crap about a Gold Star family?
Lied about seeing Muslims celebrating on 911?
Surrounds himself with alt righters?
Constantly talk about how shitty Black people’s lives are yet offers no clear cut solutions?
Tweets like a 12 year old?

You want to be my voice?

Nofuckingthanks.

I think the issue is fear, coupled with poor training. When a police officer sees a white man with a gun, he is inclined to approach the individual and politely ask what is going on. By contrast, when a police officer sees, or suspects, a black man with a gun, he gets terrified and shoots before he really stops to think about it. Why else do you see fat white boys walking into a Starbucks in Dallas with AR15’s in the ready position and no one says a word, while police shoot and kill unarmed black men and boys with some disturbing regularity? See a black man with a toy gun in the toy isle of a Walmart? Shoot first. See a `14 year old black child with a toy gun in a park? Shoot first. See a black man with his hands raised walk to his car? Well, we know how that works out. Oh, and let’s not forget the black man selling cigarettes in New York. We’ll just put him in a choke hold and handcuff him until he dies in front of us. I don’t think this is really racists as much as it is that our police are afraid of the communities they are charged to protect and to serve. In the Marines we frequently encountered armed civilians who were legally entitled to have weapons. We could not shoot them all and were trained to respond to threats and not to individuals who were otherwise going about their daily lives, armed to protect themselves and their families. We made the distinction by getting to know the villagers and townspeople in our area of operations. The police could learn from that.

Not enough police, he says. Frankly, if you don’t have a live-in police officer or three on your property, you’re un-American!
