Any decent law enforcement response to Trump would be: “You’re not helping.”
Too bad they couldn’t have had the dons of the four families to lend the event a little class.
I forgot to ask: How many times did he say that he’s not under investigation?
our police have been subject to unfair defamation and vilification
Remind me again how you chose to fire the FBI director? And refresh my memory, how did you speak of him afterward?
King of perfectly “fair defamation” sez what?
Sir, you, quite literally, read my mind.
I was just about to say, contrary to what Rump thinks, this doesn’t make their lives easier. Statements like THIS:
“It is time to work with our cops, not against them,” he said later. “But to support them in making our streets safe — not to obstruct them, which we are doing. We obstruct them.
only make the sometimes tough situations cops face worse. When the moron says “we” he’s really referring to anyone who objects to being beaten, improperly jailed or killed. Making the American public proclaim some sort of fealty to the cops doesn’t make them anymore sympathetic.
Reminds me of Pence whining about how his idea of Christians are “persecuted.”
"It is time for all Americans from all parties and beliefs to join together in a simple goal to ensure that every child in America has the right to grow up in safety, security and peace.”
Unless they’re black and/or disabled. Then they are clearly a threat and need to be shot as a precautionary measure.
Just another giant code-speak dog-whistle white nationalist shout out.
Absolutely.
“To all Americans watching this event today,” he continued, “next time you see a cop on the beat, take a moment to say two wonderful words which they so readily deserve: Thank you.”
It’s a trap! It’s still safer for “some folks” to change direction and walk away from any cop they see, not approach them and try to have a nice chat. Don’t stop teaching your kids to avoid these motherfuckers. If you live in certain places they are actively looking to pin something on you in order to fill the private prisons, stifle you as competition for the “nice” children and take your voting rights.
“To all Americans watching this event today,” he continued, “next time you see a cop on the beat, take a moment to say two wonderful words which they so readily deserve: Thank you.
Sandra Bland would like to say thank you but she died in police custody.
There’s an SFPD academy near a shopping mall I go to, and I’ve learned from some cadets that it’s possible to become a cop on the beat as young as 22. So, not worldly wise, no life experience, perhaps little experience interacting with minorities (and we have a few), are going to be the ones to turn to in an emergency. I think not.
You gotta love him using the cops as a white nationalist messaging platform and topping it off with the Black Panther fist just to make it even more racist and insulting.
“Even worse, hostility and violence. More officers were slain last year in ambushes than in any year more than two decades.”
At risk of sounding cruel or unsympathetic, I think it’s also important to point out the obvious: LEO’s of all stripes are trained to deal with violence and hostility. That is a part of the job they’ve decided to dedicate their lives to. It’s not some small aspect that’s rarely confronted. Videos taken of police abuse and MURDER over the past few years are what is fueling that rage. They can’t just ignore those situations and then expect to receive praise and glory. Or, - can they?
“To all Americans watching this event today,” he continued, “next time you see a cop on the beat, take a moment to say"
Better hope that there are no tapes…
I mean, I promise not to denigrate you the way Trump denigrated the top cop.
I mean… never mind.
ensure that every child in America has the right to grow up in safety, security and peace.
Right on, donnie! Along with the right to be gunned down by those who are supposed to “protect and serve” them. Truly a right worth fighting for if you’re an orange-hued dolt, or a supporter of an orange-he’d dolt.
Now he’s channeling Benito Mussolini? Is there a dictator, living or dead, that he hasn’t tried to emulate?
It’s nice to see Chiselin’ Trump expressing his support of the Black Lives Matter movement by displaying a Black Power Salute. But, I wonder how all of the police officers in attendance feel about it.
