Grifters gotta grift!
How can this be legal?
Never let a bad campaign go to waste?
He loans his campaign the money in the first place from one pool of money, and then uses that money to pay for his campaign needs to tRump owned properties, businesses and transportation costs that have provided services to him from this campaign labeled money…thereby helping to increase those businesses bottom line in the process. That’s why his campaign is so broke…Its all going from one pocket meant for the campaign and back into the other pocket meant for his businesses. The entire campaign is one big grifting machine.
Unless tRump owns an Advertising agency to pay himself to run campaign commercials, that shit isn’t about to magically happen either…That’s why all that free media has been so helpful to him up until now.
Can’t resist. (And I will continue.) It is the most prescient biography [of the candidate we all know and love] ever. 1995. John Kricfalusi.
That’s what I’m wondering. Simple, naive question: Is Trump actually allowed to take 10% of his campaign contributions and put the money into his businesses? Evidently he is, since no one is howling about that. So could he (or anyone else) just take all the campaign money for himself if he wants?
Someone help me out here. There were two or three folks who built an empire on “running” hopeless GOP candidates all over the place several years ago - they’d change the company and contractor names and the candidates but the basic grift was the same, and the same players seemed to be behind the schemes whatever names they went by. TPM covered this multiple times.
What the grifters would do was this: they would convince someone to put their name up to run in some hopeless race, and they would do “fundraising” for the campaign. Which actually they did do - they rent or bought mailing lists, maybe from other political organizations, and sent mail to susceptible voters, who for the most part lived far away from these races and not incidentally local media coverage, asking for donations for these patriotic candidates that would stand up for your GOP values etc. and so on. These slick mail campaigns did raise money, maybe not tons but plenty enough, and the candidates, who were often gullible marks themselves, got something like 10% of the haul for their “campaign”. The rest went to “fundraising expenses” of various sorts and to various companies, but somehow ended up in the pockets of the same few people.
When Trump first announced I thought it sounded like one of these operations, except of course he got taken seriously -which isn’t supposed to happen, because scrutiny is the last thing a grifter needs. But I underestimated the raw anger behind the man. I don’t think the GOP can stop him now, as desperately as they need to.
Makes Carson and his mid campaign book tour look like rank amateurism.
Jeebus, is he a closet Democrat concocting the biggest scam ever, on the GOP?
Him and Hillary in cahoots to destroy the GOP?
Doubt it, but still, it’s what’s happening.
Amazing it took a year to figure out the entire campaign was one Yuge Grift.
So I have a message for his supporters. How does it feel now, knowing you’ve been taken for a Yuge ride down Sucker Mountain? You are all nothing but a bunch of suckers and he knew it and used it to his advantage. And you knew it all along. The evidence was always there, but nooo, nothing could be said against Your Fuehrer.
He used you and abused you, and he’s not done yet. I’m sure you’ll keep on the rah-rah bandwagon for him too, because hey, he “tells is like it is” … or does he? When he’s done with you, you will be tossed to the curb like last week’s reeking smelly garbage. Same thing I used to say to the Tea Party … you will be tossed to the curb by the GOP, and that’s exactly what happened.
I can’t even feel sorry for his supporters. Not one iota. You were willing partners. You can’t claim naivete and you can’t claim lack of information. It was always there if you’d bothered to research. The damage he has done already to this country is immeasurable, and he’s not even done yet.
From the article:
I guess he has to charter a plane from someone, might as well be himself. Likewise, the rental of facilities and catering. As long as he’s keeping records and not drastically inflating the prices (which I expect are already pretty high) I imagine he’s well within the law.
I suspect the FEC rule is in place because most campaigns would prefer to undercharge themselves to save money for other things while Trump prefers to line his own pockets.
