Senior Obama administration officials say they didn’t go public with their intelligence about Russia’s meddling in the fall of 2016 because they feared appearing to put their thumbs on the scale for Hillary Clinton.
And it appears so far Dems. have not learned a damn thing…

Agreed: The Obama Administration should have ordered the immediate arrest of Mitch McConnell for giving aid and comfort to one of America’s enemies by refusing to take any joint action with Obama against Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Unfortunately Trump has a good point here, Obama failed to protect and warn us about election interference because McConnell scared him. He should have disclosed the Russian et al. efforts to elect Trump. Comey screwed HRC with the email snafu right before the election, it’s like the Obama conspired with McConnell to elect Trump.

They briefed the “Gang of 8” and both Paul Ryan and especially Mitch McConnel DEMANDED they say nothing, or they would “blow up the place” by shrieking that Obama was trying to “STEAL THE ELECTION” from Trump.
and you just KNOW that the NYT, the WaPo, and all the other MSM outlets would have gone along blindly trumpeting whatever Mendacious Mitch told them, happily kicking the Obama Administration and by proxy, Hillary.

Well, that and a way of generating a vote-brigaded unscientific poll number for him to throw around during his campaign rallies and Twantrums.

The chutzpah here is quite something to behold.
Obama also approved a previously undisclosed covert measure that authorized planting cyberweapons in Russia’s infrastructure, the digital equivalent of bombs that could be detonated if the United States found itself in an escalating exchange with Moscow. The project, which Obama approved in a covert-action finding, was still in its planning stages when Obama left office. It would be up to President Trump to decide whether to use the capability.
And apparently Trump didn’t do anything either. Maybe because it was covert it alluded Trump. At least Obama expelled 35 diplomats and closed 2 Russian compounds.

Obama knew the Russians had a major campaign going to influence the election for Trump, including propaganda and hacking voting systems, but didn’t tell us that because McConnell said he would claim he was trying to throw it to HRC. So in an abundance of caution and in the further interest of appeasement and comity, and not wanting to sacrifice the possible for the perfect and clinging to the high road etc., Obama kept the Trump campaign safe from truth. Trump thanks him for that effort.
Also, how is your explanation substantially different from southerndem’s? In particular, what did he say that was untrue? He said the Obama camp “feared appearing to put their thumbs on the scale for Hillary Clinton.” You said McConnell threatened to ‘“blow up the place” by shrieking that Obama was trying to “STEAL THE ELECTION” from Trump.’
