Discussion: Trump Camp Paid Breitbart Editor For 'Policy Consulting'

Ahh, the disgusting, dirty unfair media.

" The website’s executive chairman, Steve Bannon, vehemently denied that charge and called it a “lie.”"

“Lie” is such a strong word. Let’s call it a “premature truth”.

You know, even if you’re Breitbart, you’re not supposed to take fucking money to puff people. I’ve been in publishing all my life, albeit the legitimate, non-RWNJ side of the street, and I’ve never heard of one instance of people taking direct money bribes. (Ad dollars is a different story.) It’s the difference between suspecting a spouse of cheating and having the detective’s images in front of you—it’s just kind of sickening without being surprising.

Yes, the media who “lie, folks, I’m telling you the truth, they lie all the time.” Son of a bitch.

“Trump was paying the news site for favorable coverage.”

Trump on news outlets:

“They’re scum. They’re horrible people. They are so illegitimate. They are just terrible people.”

the most disgusting thing isn’t that they get bought but how cheaply they sell themselves…

if someone, who’s name is not to be mentioned, would pay me $250000 to troll the room all day I’d do it but $8 grand… ya gotta be kidding me…

oh yeah… I’d buy beer and popcorn for all the regulars here too…

I’m sure that will turn out to be winning advise! Ah, hahahahahaha!

I suspect most Johns don’t think highly of prostitutes either.

Trump has always said he can buy people, so why is anyone surprised? I wonder how many lucky delegates are going to be spending the Memorial Day weekend at that reconstructed Venetian bordello and castle gardens Mar-a Lago.

This is very unsettling to those people who thought Breitbart was a news organization – both of them.

If you can’t beat 'em, buy 'em.

I think the word you’re looking for is “fluff,” but, yeah.

“Puff piece” is a term of art in publishing for a fawning, complimentary story but it amounts to the same thing as fluffing.

Alas, I think this probably didn’t affect their coverage at all. That’s not how media-campaign incest works. The site was already Trump’s best friends, otherwise Trump wouldn’t have gone to this guy for consulting. Or even “consulting”. If it were simple payment for service rendered, that would be icky in a different way, but this is just people who are playing on the same team working together.

Guess we now know why Breitbart sided with Dumpster rather than their reporter a few weeks ago.

I do not believe that people yet understand the depravity of this man.

I hate myself for saying this but there’s some reporting that the guy’s not a day-to-day editor; he’s more the kind of person you have on the masthead because of occasional contributions, whatever prestige may accrue, all that. If he really honestly did consulting, I’d like to know what in the hell he told them that was worth 8K. It sure hasn’t filtered through and come out as reasonable policy thoughts. Sloppy of the guy, Trump, and Breitbart at best.

I don’t think most decent people can imagine or grasp it. He’s like the wounded, needy narcissistic equivalent of a black hole, where the laws of emotional physics don’t apply.

I know. I was just being a vulgar smart-ass, sorry. Trump stories have that effect on me.
