Discussion: Trump Calls For 'Rough' Policing, Gives Blessing To Law Enforcement Abuses

If the assumption if guilt based on observational evidence is enough to be manhandled into the back of a Paddy Wagon, you’d better eat a big breakfast, Mr. President.

As someone pointed out yesterday, it’s easier to arrest gardeners and housekeepers.

The cops are becoming the gangs.

Generally no.

Trump’s knowledge of policing procedures obviously comes entirely from TV cop shows.

It’s not just undocumented and it’s not just brown people.

Rachel Maddow reported last night that 20 GOPers had sent a letter to Judiciary to ask for the appointment of a second Special Counsel to investigate Secretary Clinton, James Comey, and Loretta Lynch.

Also politicizing bodies/institutions that were never meant to be political, such as the armed forces and the federal bureaucracy (ICE).

Exactly what I was thinking. Fucking morons.

Trump’s greatest talent amounts to getting ostensibly respected people (Scouts, cops, Middle-Americans, etc.) to exorcise their “Inner Asshole” and show the rest of us who they really are.

This is what we get when we allow anyone who can drag their knuckles into the polling place to vote. Sad.

If a Committee scolds in a forest does anybody hear?

Communities terrorized by lawlessness, such as this gang in Long Island have no interest in listening to liberals (like me) lecture on the need to protect the civil rights of those they see as terrorists.

OK, I’m a born and raised NY’er and an old woman of color. What you’re describing is a ghost of what NYC was. That is long gone on a widespread level in Blue States where the urban areas are becoming gentrified. That’s part of the key. Gentrification is keeping down widespread crime. Towns that have been decimated by middle class flight in general are going to be ripe for gangs. It makes sense from a a tactical point of view. Those areas, mostly in conservative strongholds economically blighted, are going to be susceptible to the "law and order stance the most.

This is going to end up just like the Boy Scout imbroglio did, with the responsible members of the police community walking back Trump’s comments.

The Long Island police forces are some of the highest paid in the country and are very responsible and very professional. It is unfortunate that these cops got caught up in the heat of the moment and behaved the way they did.

The backlash locally will be intense, and more than a few of these individuals will have second thoughts regarding their actions. If they think that this sort of behavior will make them safer, their colleagues safer and most importantly make the communities they safeguard safer, then they have no business donning a police uniform.

And BTW, every fucking pig in that room who applauded any of this should be fired today.

BAD COPS MAKE GOOD COPS LESS SAFE. PERIOD.

THAT should be the message.

Of local communities. The pres has nothing to do with it.

Trump disgusts me beyond my capacity for words. I loathe him with an intensity that I did not realize was even possible.

Personally, I will be more shocked when the suns rises tomorrow.

Telling service members to call their senators, recounting grievances with the Boy Scouts, encouraging the police to rough up suspected criminals. No wonder his sons slaughter wild animals and mutilate their corpses.
