Discussion: Trump Brushes Off Concerns About Business Conflicts: 'In Theory' It's Fine!

I thought Herr Coir Coif used the same interior decorator as Saddam Hussein.

He really doesn’t get it. I thought maybe he understood it. Now, I’m wondering. Is he smart at all?

He’s monetizing the presidency. How is that stupid?

I have seen her filings.

Yes, now is definitely the time for the media to obsess about this. Not during the primaries and general election. No, that was the time to focus on e-mails and pussy-grabbing.

“In theory” he could be sued by his competitors for having unfair advantage.

A guy told me once “If we didn’t have lawyers we wouldn’t need any”

(And from the Boston Globe)

Critics have long bewailed our national glut of lawyers, to little effect. Chief Justice Warren Burger predicted 35 years ago that America was turning into “a society overrun by hordes of lawyers, hungry as locusts.” At the time, the population of attorneys in the United States had surpassed 450,000, and law schools were graduating 34,000 new ones each year. By 2011, the annual production of law degrees was up to 44,000, and at 1.22 million, the number of lawyers in the country — which included me — had nearly tripled. Over the same period, the population of the United States had risen just 40 percent.

It’s OK If You’re a Republican. Rules apply to Democrats. Pay to Play only Hillary and Bill did that. Emails? Watch this Administration obstruct justice and be the least transparent ever.

Birds of a feather… Is there a coffee-table book yet on autocratic decorating styles? But Shabby Chic for the rest of us.

Yeah, I heard that when I was admitted to the bar in 1987.

I believe the GOP will be spooked by maniac Trump. I believe they will impeach within a year to save itself from total destruction.

I haven’t heard a thing about Hillary’s emails or the Clinton Foundation since November 8. I wonder what happened. Those seemed like such important stories. Media, can you help me understand?

And release his tax returns for the last ten years. And declare all current debts to domestic and foreign creditors and the terms of any such credit. And make these rules applicable to all future presidents and persons running for the presidency. And extend this to all members of Congress and Executive, and call it the Anti-Corruption Act, popularly known as the Drain the Swamp Act. This seems like a no-brainer. Either the Bill passes, which will be good, or Republicans vote against it, which will look very bad for them.

Legitimacy of an election in a Democracy

“An enlightened citizenry is indispensable for the proper functioning of a republic.
Self-government is not possible unless the citizens are educated sufficiently to enable them to exercise oversight”.
Thomas Jefferson

In brief: A true democracy requires an informed citizenry.

The election of Trump, it can be argued, is the result of unprecedented manipulation and a massive con job facilitated by an information delivery system
which seems designed to keep the voter uninformed.

Modern information technology has created a situation where the uninformed voter now threatens the Democratic form of government,
raising the question of the Legitimacy of the election of Trump. Unlimited campaign financing, a media whose first priority is attracting
maximum viewers, listeners and clickers, a debate format designed to entertain not inform, a media structure which does not allow for follow up
questions—all have created a perfect storm making it impossible for the citizenry to be informed before voting.

To support this thesis consider the following evidence:

  1. The Trump Campaign included a Media Section which was charged with targeting potential Clinton voters (Blacks, Hispanics, College Students, etc.)
with false stories and negative information about Hillary with the sole purpose of driving down the Clinton vote.

  2. Facebook and Google provided a platform for making false stories appear credible—even provided a financial incentive to post false stories.
And, Facebook and Google were full of these false stories which appeared in the same format as legitimate news stories.

  3. Trump set a record for candidates in spewing out false information—without significant challenge by the media.

  4. The primary communication tool of candidate Trump was Twitter—a format ill suited for communicating information which an informed voter requires.
Indeed, its main function was to deliver insults.

  5. The unlimited sums of money available to create propaganda style TV ads works against the need to provide truthful information necessary to educate
    an informed citizenry.

  6. The news media gave Trump unprecedented coverage constantly keeping his name before the public.

  7. FBI Director Comey, in violation of FBI rules and practice, injected the Clinton email story back into the campaign just days before the election.

  8. Several states had various voter suppression laws in place targeting potential Democratic voters—college students and minorities.

  9. Clinton won the Popular vote by an unprecedented 1.7 million votes with the potential to go even higher. California still has ballots to be counted—
the number remaining to be counted is equal to the number of votes recorded by a total of 34 states.

Also will need Independent Investigators, because the FBI was totally politicized by Rudy Giuliani, James Comey and the former head of the NYC Office turned Trump Trojan Horse.

“I might have brought it up,” he said…

So much for the “straight-shooter.” Like he does not know. He even has his kids who will manage his companies sitting in on meetings with foreign dignitaries and business partners. He has institutionalized what was heretofore a common practice among the world’s worst despots who enrich themselves at the expense of the ruled with no accountability. The worst that could happen is he gets impeached with a whole lot more in foreign bank accounts than he has now. He will have made fools out of his voters. But than, that’s how sociopaths roll.

Who knew when he said he was going to “drain the swamp” he meant drain it and replace it with an open sewer the size of the Everglades?

More appropriate for Trump might be the words of Louis XIV’s great grandson:

Was it a prescient move or just a lucky one that he picked Mike Pence, possibly one of the few available Republicans that Dems would like to see given the Presidency less than Trump? I’m thinking the latter, but it’s still pretty strong impeachment insurance.
