Discussion: Trump Blows Up Latest Bipartisan Efforts To End Shutdown

Nice of Donnie to throw Lindsey under the bus so publicly.

Donnie is rapidly reaching the “doesn’t even have enough friends left to stage an intervention” stage of his addiction.

We are headed for a moment when the population will be educated as to an appreciation of what we have been able to achieve as a stable, established and orderly democratic Republic which has been remarkably stable over the years, even with the ravages of racism.

Because there is only one way this present impasse ends well for the Republic I just described.

Resistance to extortion.

It’s going to take some sort of general strike. And not just TSA/air traffic controllers. It’s not fair to put this all on them. We all need to stand up and say, “Enough is enough!”

This would be a great day to begin impeachment proceedings.

Maybe. He didn’t even wait for the bus to leave the barn before throwing Lindsey under it.

Trump’s shutdown of the Government has likely caused more damage and human suffering in little more than a month than all of the undocumented immigrants who have come into our country in the last decade.

The damage that Trump himself has done is probably five times that. How much longer are the American people going to put up with this criminal monster known as Donald Trump in the White House?

Of course he blew it up. What else does a bully / jerk [insert more colorful descriptor of your choice here] know how to do? He is an absolute disgrace.

Now’s the time for MASSIVE protests.

Down payment? They talking about giving him some wall money for 3 week CR? No, just fucking open the government, its not a hostage.

It’s beginning to look more and more like the only way the government is going to get reopened is with a collection of clean appropriations bills, with no funding earmarked for Trump’s wall, passed by a veto-proof majority of both houses. The question now is just how much pressure, precisely, it’s going to take for the Republicans on The Hill to figure out that they don’t much like the corner Trump has painted them into.

The second, more interesting question is whether this break will effectively signal the end of Trump’s Presidency. Once the House and Senate Republicans openly defy him, and discover that they haven’t been turned into some sort of lowly invertebrates by his evil magic, will they find the spine to start governing like a co-equal branch?

Trump is one fucking sore loser.

In the worst case scenario, the Trump shutdown goes on until November, 2020. If that’s the case, who do Republicans think will benefit in the election…and probably in a landslide?

It seems to me Dems have no choice but to hold firm, not only because it’s the right thing to do because the wall’s absolutely unnecessary and expensive, but because all the polls show them winning on the issue. At some point, McConnell is going to have to make a deal.

That was my thought as well. McConnell has a shot to get a veto-proof majority to override this tyrant. Every fiber of his being is Party Before Country. He has to be nudged and nudged European style. McConnell is more ignorant than a sixth grader. He thinks he can ruin the Republic for his benefit, while controlling Drumpf.

He is like Manafort: willing to wreck the very norms on which he depends

Trump’s gonna declare an emergency at the Mexican border. The Santa Cruz county sheriff says …nope, there’s no emergency as do all the other sheriffs who’s territories are on the border.

The wall is all he’s got. Well, except for the tiny penis, the sub-amoeba IQ, the fat ass, the plastic trophy “supermodel!” wife, 5 genetically-defective kids, and the undying love of Vladimir Putin and Lindsey “What’s the safe word tonight, Mr. President?” Graham.
