Discussion: Trump Blames Dems For His Own Policy Of Separating Families At The Border

I’m not even sure Trump’s base will buy the idea that this is a Democratic policy. He’s losing it. I’m also losing it as I think about the interviews I heard yesterday with two immigration attorneys who work at the border. Children screaming for their mother, taken away, and sometimes denied even basic communication with the only parent they know - and many of these parents were trying to enter the US legally.

Let’s see what Fox news presents to the choir on this… Will they call him out, or just reinforce his lies.

Trump is a coward.

The media were willing to sweep all of this under the rug but Trump has now put it front and center.

The immediate move of the GOP/Bots will be ‘whataboutism’ but this policy of separating the children of asylum seekers from their parents is all Trump, Miller and Beauregard. The focus has to be on #wherearethechildren. If we were able to get a 60 Minutes or Channel 4 style segment w/undercover footage, this issue could blow up to Katrina level. It should. This is a moral disgrace and puts us as human rights abusers. This is gestapo like and it won’t be long before they do this to citizens.

OT—

All of a sudden, I’m seeing very intrusive ads on this site.
It’s both annoying and infuriating.

It was designed as Trump administration terrorism to deter families from coming here:

[Kelly] continued: “Yes I’m considering (that), in order to deter more movement along this terribly dangerous network. I am considering exactly that. They will be well cared for as we deal with their parents. … It’s more important to me, Wolf, to try to keep people off of this awful network.”

“Our policy is if you break the law, we will prosecute you,” Nielsen said. “You have an option to go to a port of entry and not illegally cross into our country.”

Total lie. The ACLU–what an organization–has revealed that even parents and children arriving in regular order at ports of entry seeking asylum have been separated.

I’m 100% positive his base will buy anything he says.

“President Donald Trump on Sunday blamed…”

To nit pick, please get days of the week right, especially in story leads.

I agree with you - but I was actually thinking that the base would want Trump to take credit for separating parents and kids. You know, he’s the “tough guy who’s willing to do what needs to be done.”

Democrats are no longer the opposition party. They are the enemy. The enemy is evil. They kill unborn babies. They are all charter members of MS-13. So why wouldn’t they believe it?

Trump’s base will buy every shit sandwich he tries to sell them.
Period.
Full stop.

They’ve proved it over and over and over again.

Why does he dislike the policy? Why is it a bad one, in Trumpian terms? Because the children are not sold or enslaved?

Scott Lloyd, the director of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement, which oversees shelters for unaccompanied immigrant minor

Use his name, why isn’t he keeping track? There were problems going back to the Obama administration so why hasn’t he fixed this?

John Kelly: It’s not ‘cruel’ to separate families at the border — children will be ‘put into foster care or whatever’

Yeah, I mean whatever, dude.
