How DARE the President interject reality into the campaign!
That whole âCâ rejection from the Trump apartments in the 70sâthat was tough too.
If you think of yourself as a liberal, a progressive, left of center, or in any way are repulsed by Trump, and you arenât voting for Hillary to ensure that this insane, lying, demagogic dangerous autocrat isnât elected president, you really need to re-think your priorities and values.
"Obama hopes that "people in the community pull together and say, âHow do we do this the right way?ââ
How about we put answering that question on your post-POTUS to-do list? Please?
Trump supporters,by in large, will not give any credence to the Presidentâs remarks. They, as well as Trump himself, will mock him and ridicule him and all âothersâ in our diverse community. Hopefully (and my son says I can not see reality because Iâm to much an optimist) there will be enough folks that listen to the Presidentâs comments, look at Trumps deplorable behavior, look at his racist supporters from the various white nationalist groups and do the right thing. Hopefully the Bernie crew will come back to the Dems and vote. All adding to a Clinton win by a undisputable win.
Can we like more than once?
I get his point but I doubt there are any White 8 year olds who have heard of Jim Crow.
It would seem the riots, lynchings, etc of the 60s were worse than what we see now
Did the President point out that during slavery sex criminals could get away with abusing interns? Oh no, wait up, thatâs kinda todayâŚ
âI think even most 8-year-olds will tell you that whole slavery thing wasnât very good for black people. Jim Crow wasnât very good for black people,â Obama told ABC.
President Obama fails to acknowledge that until he came along, slavery and Jim Crow didnât exist.
âTrumpâs claim earlier this week that the black community is in its worst shape âever, ever, everââŚâ
Um, not even close.
A piece in Harperâs a while back explained how the little-known third verse of our national anthem actually celebrates slavery and demonizes freed-slaves, including the history behind that verse.
Pretty timely to Kaepernick, Charlotte, et al., and the discussion Republicans (among others) refuse to have.
My mother had taught me about traveling through the Jim Crow South by the time I was 8. At least outside of Texas, they start teaching a sanitised version of the Civil Rights Movement in Elementary School.
The GOP still believes that slavery never happened, and that African-Americans are only illegal immigrants who over-stayed their visitor visas after their tours of the southern US, because they were getting free stuff.
Your attempt to distort is deplorable.
Itâs not hard to see the utter contempt Trump has for AAs. I hope he gets literally zero percent, though even that would be more votes than he deserves.
The grain of truth that Trump is abusing and Obama ignoring? The wealth of the African-American community was essentially wiped out in the 2008 crash and is far from recovery.
Everyone knows that history began in January, 2009.
I donât even know what to say about this - itâs like Holocaust denial - so incredible you donât know quite what to say.
ââŚpriorities and valuesâŚâ
Rich: It goes much deeper than that to include oneâs knowledge of US and world history, especially 20th C history.
The parallels between Trump and Mussolini, for ex, were patent immediately.
His demagoguery is textbook. These observations are beyond the ken of Trump supporters. Might as well be talking in Sanskrit to explain this to any one of them.
