I think this lens manufacturer knows more than we do.

I wonder what his written responses said about this, when he thought Manafort had Mueller all snowed…

If anything mattered anymore, this would be the end for Trump.

Well, let’s see. He’s lying to cover up his quid-pro-quos. He’s lying transparently, because he thinks everyone is as stupid as him. And I think that at least emotionally he can’t really grasp what a conflict of interest is or why they’re bad.

If only something concerning this administration was “obvious” - apart from the fact that it is up to its eyeballs in deception and illegality.

Trump Backtracks: Running For Prez ‘Doesn’t Mean I’m Not Allowed To Do Business’

For Trump, the good news is that he will be meeting with Vladimir Putin in a few days and will get assurances that nothing is going to leak from his end. The bad news is that Vlad will have him by the balls even tighter and he will force him publicly prostrate himself on an even more humiliating way than last time.

follow up question “Mr. President”, how come you were not open with the American people about your Russian business dealings during the campaign? Why keep it secret from the people you were trying to get a job from?

And actually, that the case. Running for president does mean you aren’t allowed to do business in certain ways. And anything that involves a foreign entity’s help with your campaign (see the Sater email) would be one of those ways.

“After I won, obviously, I didn’t do business,” he added.

What’s obvious is Trump’s bullshit. The ‘trust’ he created to put Uday and Qusay in charge of the Trump Organization is a sham. Trump still has his ownership stake and any assertions that he’s not informed of business operations are simply not believable. He uses the influence of his office to make sure the Trump Organization gets paid. It is straight up corruption.

Here’s an item I would like to see on the House Democrats’ agenda: A bill to bring the President and Vice President under the same ethics rules as Cabinet secretaries and other political appointees. Until Trump, Presidents abided by political norms, released their tax returns, and divested from assets that would create a conflict of interest or the appearance thereof. Well, norms aren’t working anymore so we need a law.

Republicans will probably oppose it but that’s fine. Pass the bill and make them publicly oppose it. If they can’t be shamed into doing the right thing then let them defend public corruption and suffer the political consequences of that.
