Discussion: Trump Attacks Judge's 'Very Unfair' Decision To Jail Manafort Before Trial

More than that, it’s not necessary that you’ve even been charged. As long as the controversial act is in the past, you can be pardoned for it.

By a president.

Not all officials with pardoning power possess it to this extent.

Life is so very unfair wherever donald casts his squinty pig eyes overlooking how he came to be installed in the WH.

Oh, that moderate R proposal for immigration? Dead as the thing on the occupant’s head

Well then, I guess it’s good to know how we’re going to be entertained as we slide on into fascism.

Once pardoned Paul can’t plead the 5th. So he has to answer all questions about Trump.

The Presidential pardon power is absolute, encompassing, and unlimited. He can pardon you for something you have not even been accused of yet. He can pardon you for a crime which you have not committed yet (although that is in dispute).

He can definitely pardon you for anything you have been accused of, are currently on trial for, have been convicted of, are currently serving a sentence for.

It is a right of the President coming directly from the pardon power of kings, which already Jean Bodin claimed as part of the absolute sovereign power of monarchs in his “Six livres de la république” (1576).

Can’t wait for the next time he says the Democrats need to change the law.

Hope was rising here at the idea that some reform could come about and the children languishing in Huntsville and elsewhere would be taken into consideration.

I’m wondering whether or not, should Trump do a pre-emptive pardon, the results of the investigation can be published.

News flash L’il Donnie. Life isn’t fair. Never has been. Guess one is never too old to learn a life lesson, little boy.

When ready, Mueller’s findings will be in the hands of someone at the Justice Department.

That someone may or may not be someone currently in the Justice Department.

“Wow, what a tough sentence for Paul Manafort, who has represented Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole and many other top political people and campaigns.”

Yeah, I saw that on Netflix’s Get Me Roger Stone. Manafort should have been locked up long ago.

Speaking of Roger Stone – next?

I was all for the GOP bill to be brought to the floor yesterday because anything that will reunite those families is fine by me.

Since he said No, then it’s squarely on them and people are pretty outraged. Barbara Boxer was on Chris Hayes last night (looking awful good - she’s either had a face lift or some other work done - she looks good,) and she said that the GOP is getting hammered by some constituents over the children being separated from their parents. Some evangelicals are threatening to revolt - it seems some god botherers take it seriously - just not their leaders. At least according to Boxer and I do believe that.

It hasn’t been tested yet because such an action is so ridiculous on its face but I’ll wager my country that a President can’t pardon himself and his fellow criminals for their crimes. Says who? Says all common sense. He’s not a king per our charter.

It’s not that simple. Manafort can still claim 5th amendment protections due to state crime liability, or any federal crimes the federal pardon missed.
