Flake’s GOP Senate colleagues have suggested they will rally around Flake (and McCain) and retaliate against Trump for his attacks.
So what are they going to do? Not pass a tax cut? Not confirm Republican judges? Not confirm other nominees?
The war for the hearts and minds of the Republican party is over and Trump won. Trump is who they are and he didn’t happen by accident.
But he didn’t command McCain’s doctors/nurses to kill him, so there’s that.
I keep telling myself that Trump is like chemotherapy. He is toxic radiation that we can only hope kills the cancerous growth that has been nurtured by the GOP before it can kill all of us.
We are looking forward to good election results in Arizona in 2018. If Trump is attacking the Republicans, so much the better.
Could this go any better? Trump attacks a GOP senator who rubberstamps his agenda. This opens up the election to massive GOP voter dissatisfaction and apathy so a Democrat can replace him. Keep it up Donnie!

If the Senate GOP weasels had any backbone – which they don’t – they’d privately tell Don the Con they will refuse to pass his agenda or approve his nominees for any position until he publicly changes his bloviating.
In some ways, this reminds me of the situation with Blanche Lincoln in 2010. Many on the Left believed that she was going down: either she’d lose the primary OR she’d lose the general. Of course, Pres. Obama wasn’t attacking her left and right but the point is that she simply didn’t have enough support from either side to pull her through. Sure enough, she lost to Cotton.
Except his agenda is their agenda, or more importantly, the agenda of the mob that now makes up the Grand Old Party.
The other Dem Senator in Arkansas eventually lost there too. It’s solid red now.
It’s a delicious Catch 22 dilemma.
Coward. Had the chance to call Flake out during his klan rally and didn’t have the guts, instead he retreated to his safe space before bullying.
There is something about Trump and the Republican Party that makes me think of Joe Pesci’s character of Tommy DeVito in Goodfellas. Everyone knows he is an evil little fuck and a loose cannon who is good for nothing but killing, but they still protect him as one of their own. However, when he breaks the code and kills another made guy, he is done.
This is basically the Republicans reaction to Trump. As long as his bullets are wounding non Republicans, they have his back. But when he starts going after Republican senators, it is going to be a different story. It is taking awhile, but it is happening.
…by registering as Democrats.
Going independent and caucusing with Dems, would be the way to really show they can no longer support a party headed by drump. Would take 3 of them to swap control.
