He seems to have all the proper conservative qualifications. The real question is this: Is he hostile to the very concept of employees?
If the answer is no, then he’s a better choice than Puzder by an order of magnitude, regardless of whatever flaws he may have…which are undoubtedly many, given who nominated him.
Those will come out in time, and will likely be ignored by Republicans in the Senate. A week ago, they’d have even voted in Puzder.
Melania: “Acosta? Vell, dahlink, I love hees leetle alligator shirts. Zee Donalt geeves theem to me to play golf een.”
I agree that he may not be as bat sh*t as Puzder was but we’re still talking bad. Which was to be expected. TIme for Dems to dig up all the oppo research they can on him.
Side note: why does he look like the human version of Alfred E. Newman on the cover of Mad magazine?
trump said his approval rating according to Rasmusen is 55% (Likely voters that is) I know Rasmusen leans R but still.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 55% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-five percent (45%) disapprove.
The latest figures include 38% who Strongly Approve of the way Trump is performing and 36% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of +2. (see trends).
(Barring something Trumpian)…Acosta would be the sixth lawyer to become Labor Secretary. From the ‘somewhat ironic’ file, former secretary Perez headed the DOJ civil rights division under Obama.
In order
Lewis B. Schwellenbach (Truman)
Arthur Goldberg (Kennedy)
W. Willard Wirtz (Kennedy n Johnson)
Libby Dole (Bush 1)
Tom Perez (Obama)
When did HE stop beating his wife?
Our so-called President is incapable of nominating someone good. The best we can hope for is someone who isn’t openly hostile to the agency they’ve been asked to run or hostile to that agency’s goals.
Even that is a tall order - see Scott Pruitt or Betsy DeVos for examples.
The time Trump spent on this candidates’ qualifications vs. the time spent validating his loser self was mind boggling. He lied about everything and instead of worrying about keeping their cushy jobs, the senate should be working in a bipartisan manner to get him the hell out of office. He’s clearly not tethered to reality.
Q: Why would you do likely voter numbers to show what people think of the president way way way before a election.
A: To fuck with the results.
He looks like the outside guy they subcontract to hand out pink slips during a reduction in force.
And he looks like someone kept whacking him with a shovel to rearrange the shape of his head
Why are they always the same kind of ugly?
I dunno, but it is weird how badly horrible people age. Trump makes Reagan look spry, Conway is a living meth skeleton, and Bannon looks like a sewage-filled balloon.
So, he sucks, but at least he has gov’t experience and isn’t an abusive billionaire CEO.
Blech.
But they’re all ugly in the same way. I don’t know how to explain now because I’m too tired. There’s not even any diversity in that, either.
“a protege of conservative Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito”
well, he was JUDGE Alito’s clerk, but besides that, not sure what this means.
His Wikipedia page makes him look okay, but shrugs. Ana Navarro likes him.
Frankly, he sounds like a much more tolerable pick than Puzder and more in line with what I’d expect to have to tolerate and be willing to tolerate from a GOP administration. We’ll see what surfaces as he’s vetted, but I don’t have any alarm bells going off quite yet.
Oh yes, indeed. Rasmussen sucks, just popping it out there. Funny thing, I was just wondering what his poll numbers are today and then trump mentioned that so I looked it up.
He is carrying on and on about Russia, perhaps I should turn the sound on.
Nah…
