Discussion: Trump Allies View Cohen As Greatest Threat To Trump Presidency

I am a little confused here… What is worse for Trump, the fact that he did pay back AMI? OR If he didn’t pay back AMI that means that their payment to McDougal has to be considered as a Campaign Contribution?

I mean both show the kind of behavior we expect from Trump, but which one gets him in more trouble? Based on past experience, my inclination is to assume which ever story Trump is claiming to be true should be the less harmful.

Trump is the greatest threat to the Trump Presidency. :confounded:

The unknown tapes and documents from the storage unit are his greatest threat.

Dance motherfuckers, dance.

The meaning of the tape is up for debate.

I’ve been wondering if only part of the recording was released in order to make the dumbasses look like total fucking fools.

so I get the facts straight…the Trump camp waived privilege on this tape. There are also other tapes that Trump has the say-so on privilege, but have not released? How many? If this is correct, they must have their reasons for releasing this one and not the others. It seems like a strange strategy and one potentially coordinated with the Cohen’s team. Do I have that correct? Very weird that they thought this would help their cause.

Also, there are presumably other tapes that may be ruled privileged by the special master, which perhaps others could have the rights to waive–say conversations with Hannity–that may or may not have any relevance to the prosecutors.

Lastly, some of the tapes have been released to prosecutors–perhaps many are irrelevant, but some are relevant to the case.

Do I have this correct?

All this sturm und drang over Trump and his allegedly precarious legal position is pure blather until someone produces a list of 67 Senators willing to impeach him. Otherwise he’s free to conduct his business as usual and everyone can just go to hell if they don’t like it.

Oh, and everytime I read about campaign finance violations being a breach in his hull I have to laugh. Whatever violations are proven he can take the paper they’re written on and wipe his ass with them. No none takes campaign laws seriously, and they certainly don’t fear any repercussions for breaking them.

Thanks, but I don’t think it answers the question. There are 100+ tapes that could involve the president. Since initially seized, the special master decided a subset could be used by prosecutors (unclear to me whether the prosecutors have heard all of them), whereas the others were denied to them for various reasons. Some of those denied, Trump lawyers have say-so on whether they can be released–it isn’t clear to me whether that is all of the denied tapes or just a sub-set. One of those tapes was this one. At least this is my understanding, but I am not sure I have it correct and what the breakdown is in terms of how many tapes in each category and who can release them.

It seems to me that Giuliani and company specifically wanted this out or they wouldn’t have given consent. The flip-side is that there seem to be several that they haven’t given consent to sharing. How many? Is it the rest of the 100+? Is it 11 (another number I heard thrown around)?

So, the guy who knows many truths about Trump and his business and personal life, and who has many of those truths in Trump’s own voice and in documents that prosecutors now have is "the greatest threat to Trump’s presidency.

Now, why would the truth about this man be a big threat to his keeping his job?

And, why does this AP story not quote any Trump allies or describe conversations with them, to actually support the assertion that they consider Cohen a great threat, or the greatest threat? I’m sure some do; but if such interview or public statement comments are in the story, I failed to see them.

Not even Dinesh D’Souza. Turns out, in the long run he was right.

Spankee’s waking up to what many others already learned: kick a dog often enough and he’ll bite you.

Guess Mikey got tired of being kicked after all of his puppy-dog loyalty.

As usual, Trump’s lack of loyalty is coming back to bite him in the tuchas. If he had kept paying Cohen’s legal bills Cohen would be quiet.

I, for one, am delighted Cohen is fighting back, and hope he is one of the reasons Trump goes to prison.

You have to tape Lying Trumpski to prove what he said when it becomes convenient for him to claim something else. His reputation for making stuff up is well documented. His lawyers paired up so they could protect each other when his story changed. Cohen has a perfect case of self defense if Rudy tries to have him sanctioned.

Also, too, how’s that dementia thingy working out for Putin’s pocket poodle? How will he turn being nuts to his advantage? Stay tuned Mousketeers.

“What kind of lawyer would tape his client?”

One whose pathologically lying client is using him to break the law.

Hoping Cohen has an excellent security detail. We know what happens to Trumputin’s enemies.

If they didn’t pay AMI back then it’s an unreported campaign contribution. If they did pay it back it’s an unreported loan. Both cases are violations of campaign finance laws. It’s all in the timing, if McDougal had been paid off prior to 2015 then it would have been just like any other clean up on aisle Trump.
