Wait till Bernie announces - and generates ten million bucks in 24 hours! Then this will really get interesting.
You mean 100 million rubles?
I know, he went to Russia for his honeymoon. So rubles it is. Seriously, the āDā Party will have to do some fast figuring if Bernie runs.
I know what youāre saying. But itās amazing, because he really does have cross-over appeal. Once hearing him speak and learning about his experience and knowledge, heās the kind of guy that my conservative republican parents in their 80ās would happily vote for. I truly believe that.
Serious questionāwhy? Iād say he has zero chance of winning the nomination. The singular factors of 2016 wonāt be repeated. I could believe heāll generate a solid chunk of supportāsay 20%. Then what? Will he play spoiler again? Will he hold the nomination hostage? I donāt see what his game plan is.
And I hear what youāre saying. But the fuckers that sell Trump and his wall while poisoning the electorate will think God is on their side if Buttigieg were to be the āDā nominee.
True. But all the people who voted for Trump as the ālesser of two evilsā (I still donāt understand that) are greater in number than Trumpās rabid true believers.
Buttigieg is a dark horse, and a long shot if he declares that heās running, but I also think that he needs to be heard.
I could believe heāll generate a solid chunk of supportāsay 20%.
I think you may be underestimating his support. Or perhaps his time has passed. But heās the favorite candidate of Millennials, the largest voting block. More importantly, heāll have a big advantage over the other candidates in his ability to raise money. The math would work in his favor when dividing the $$ up if there are say ten āDā candidates. Someone would have to jump out ahead of the crowd in order to grab the big bucks early on. Then we go from there.
So youāre saying he will be the Hillary of the 2020 race, who can run out the clock to the nomination because of his huge purse? Interesting.
As true as that is, it is still the system the country will face in 2020
It.feels too early to be overly concerned about who gets the democratic nomination. The fact is that the dems have an exceptionally long bench of highly capable people running for the presidential nomination. Most of these folks have supporters who are largely not antoginistic to each other, or to the various candidates. It is very likely that, regardless of how things shake down, the dems will nominate a solid ticket that can unify the party.
If the choice boils down to a race between any solid democrat and Trump, it is likely that the democrat wins.
I think heās worried about anyone whoās white and could possibly peel off any of his support among white men. He for sure attacks Warren. Heās already started in on OāRourke.
And I have my doubts heās actually worried about Biden while I have no doubt heād rather run against Biden than a young, highly charismatic white man who already pulled in more people than Trump for a simultaneous rally in the red state of Texas. And Warren has populist appeal, and Trump knows that too.
He also knows that Biden doesnāt excite even the Democratic base. He could have in 2016 possibly. But that ship has sailed and Bidenās heading to be four more very significant years older to boot.
@emiliano4 I donāt believe for a minute he didnāt run in '16 because of his sonās death, not while the competing (and I believe earlier) story was that Beau had told him to he had to run. He got no traction, no one in the party lined up behind him, and he dropped it.
