Really how stupid are these people? As a child (and I am now pushing 70) I knew people influenced nature every day. One walk in the woods and you had changed something in the woods. One day of heating our house by burning wood or coal influenced the air we breathed and the space where those trees had been that we cut to burn. I can understand a discussion on the degree of change etc. but to say we do not influence all of nature including climate is just plain stupid!

Educated people (IIRC) knew the earth was round since the time of the ancient Greeks. The old Columbus stories they told boomers in school basically papered that over with a huge misconception. Geocentrism was disproven by the burgeoning scientific movement in the early modern period. It was held to by the Church, not by the European science community. And the ultimate idea, that knowledge advances, doesn’t somehow render unimportant any current scientific consensus you find inconvenient to your raping and pillaging.
Eratosthenes, 200 BC (the prime number guy) had a pretty good estimate of the earths radius …
