How much have we spend so far trying to kill the Taliban without success? One trillion? The few thousand dollars of expenses are not even a rounding error.
And anyway whatever the final deal is, it will involve payments to the warlords that are opposed to the Taliban, to convince them to support the plan, and then huge subsidies to the new Taliban government. Which would be fair because the US has been bombing their country and killing people that just happened to be in the wrong place for 18 years.
So yes, the next son-of-a-bitch that comes along proposing “regime changes” (not sure who gave the US the right to decide which regime stays and which one goes), tar and feather the bastard.
That depends on whether you include what it cost us to bring them to power in the first place.

Just for consistency, why not have the Taliban submit a bill, and then we can just not pay it
