Discussion: Trump Admin. Rule Change Would Roll Back ACA Protections For Transgender People

ā€œWhen Congress prohibited sex discrimination, it did so according to the plain meaning of the term,"

No wonder women are losing so many rights. After all, many laws apply to ā€œmenā€ only.

WTF business is it of the GOP what choices people make regarding their own bodies?

GOP logic: Canā€™t discriminate against change in gender if you donā€™t recognize gender can change

The GOPers and the GOP-appointed judges keep opening up a giant hole in the law for ā€œreligious freedom.ā€ Liberals need to get more clever about taking advantage of it, building on the success of the Satanic Temple (see also John Oliverā€™s Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption ).

Taking advantage of ā€œreligious freedomā€ legislation and rulings wouldnā€™t require liberals to fake some beliefs and make up deities and rituals and so on. Satanic Temple got official IRS recognition as a church even though, as co-founder Lucen Greaves stated:

ā€¦one of the first things that people need to realize about us is that we donā€™t advocate for any supernatural beliefs. Weā€™re a nontheistic religion. We donā€™t subscribe to supernatural explanations or accept them as legitimate

ā€¦This idea of worship, itā€™s usually kind of insulting to people who identify with Satanism, because that implies a sense of servility. Satanism is about personal sovereignty and independence and freedom of will.

It seems to me that, as a member of the Satanic Temple or some similar church/religion, it would be entirely reasonable to claim that to be forced to conform to the dogma of another religion is a tremendous infringement on your own beliefs.

I think it would be entirely reasonable to claim that laws or regulations based on inaccurate beliefs or assumptions about natural phenomena (whether biological or inert or large systems of both living and non-living matter and energy) is a tremendous infringement on your religious beliefs.

Yet another episode in the continuing story of what would a dick do?

Republicans are the party of making trans male athletes compete as the females on their birth certificates. This is the only scenario where a transgender athlete might have a slight advantage, and the only advantage whatsoever they want to allow any chromosomal female.

Perhaps we should expand Mental Health benefits to include psychotic obsessions over peopleā€™s reproductive organs and the need to reach down peopleā€™s pants. I have a particular President who could use the therapy.

I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever hated so many people at once.

The more important issue is the M2F transgender competing as females. They simply win easily. Rachel McMillan, the two HS guys competing as girls in CT, the weight lifter (thank goodness weightlifting does not allow XY individuals to compete as females - Mary Gregory), on and on. Thereā€™s the New Zealand handball male champion who transitioned to female, and destroyed the ability of women to compete - heā€™s about 6ā€™3", outweighs his competition, is far more aggressive. Heā€™s a guy in a dress. Case after case. Itā€™s not just testosterone. Male bones are denser. Male muscles work differently. Male hemoglobin is more efficient. The male pelvis is more efficient at running than the female.

But by all means allow M2F to compete as females. Destroy the chances of normal girls to win. Martina Navratilova is right.

Not only did Mary Gregory compete as a woman, he did so by deception, in that he did not disclose his actual status.

Donald Trump will be a one term president. And then we can start to heal. But the Democrats as the majority in both houses and the presidency for ever after.

Iā€™m certainly pleased to see that Ivanka ā€“ the self-proclaimed champion of the LGBT community ā€“ has been so effective in her role as official White House advisor to Daddy.

First they came for the immigrants . . . .

. . . then the came for pregnant women . . .

. . . . . . then they came for the transgender people . . .

. . . . . . . . .then they came for . . . ?

Had a similar thought this morning on another thread:
