Discussion: Trump Admin Mulling ‘Fossil Fuel Alliance’ To Promote Coal And Natural Gas

Have had that the last several days.

I expect drought conditions going forward.

Just saw a woman in a poncho and a little dog in a raincoat going up the alley. You get yourself all het up about politics and then things come along to make you smile and it’s OK again.

Heh! Very good; an 8-ball without the 8!

No, but here’s a coal ad with a… shall we say “interesting?” song choice.

Clean coal is akin to calling Trump honest and competent.

Maybe Trump’s Department of Energy can re-issue this gem:

The future is later!

Hey, wait a minute! Isn’t the main reason coal is in decline is that it can’t compete with natural gas? Why on earth would they ally themselves? Wouldn’t that be like horse traders allying themselves with Henry Ford?

yeah OK wtf was that about? Here’s my video answer:

Proving once again that Donny has zero understanding of how the energy industry works.

The natural gas industry has almost nothing to do with the coal industry, other than as a competitor — even more so since the advent of shale development. They are different and distinct industries.

Oil & gas companies rarely, if ever, have any investments in coal. They know that coal is a dying technology, and they are not about to retreat to the 19th century. They might indulge Trump with placating words and vague expressions of interest, but — no.

Well, sure. But I was hoping we could bring back child chimney sweeps too.

So we have an administration willing to sacrifice the future prosperity of the nation for the near-term enrichment of their cronies in a dead-end industry. As we gleefully burn through our finite, polluting fossil fuel reserves, China, Europe, and others will be investing in renewable energy tech, on their way to dominating the future global economy. It’s almost unbelievable. I need a drink.

Welp, house still seems to be here. Power never even went off. We prudently keep a few trailer parks around to attract tornados away from people who matter. : )

Unintended oxymoron:

Kids can’t do that! They’re earning their keep sweeping floors in schools.

“You say to somebody, you shouldn’t go to work before you’re what, 14, 16 years of age, fine,” Mr. Gingrich said. “You’re totally poor. You’re in a school that is failing with a teacher that is failing. I’ve tried for years to have a very simple model. Most of these schools ought to get rid of the unionized janitors, have one master janitor and pay local students to take care of the school. The kids would actually do work, they would have cash, they would have pride in the schools, they’d begin the process of rising.”

“That sent us a very clear signal that if we were to have a rational discussion about energy and climate discussion, we were going to have to create a new platform,” Banks told E&E News.

“… and an entirely new administration, starting right from the very top.”

Ha ha! My husband and I sometimes entertain ourselves trying to guess what a commercial is for before it is revealed at the end.

“A car? Fragrance? Life insurance? Diapers? Toothpaste? Oh, it’s an ad for jeans!”
