HHS doesn’t know where these children are. But more importantly, it couldn’t possibly care less. Despicable.
If we don’t know where they are, we do not know what condition they are in - and they are exceptionally vulnerable.
Behind each of the interlocking policies that led to this situation, imo, is the handiwork - hard pushing with no concern for how implemented, policy implications, or anything except the hard rhetoric of Steve Miller.
Any tragedy that befalls on any of these children (and their estranged families) should be metaphorically etched on his soul.
Try checking Trump Hotels for a sudden influx of underage housekeepers…
If this is what Make America Great Again looks like, count me out!!
So my take away is that HHS called once and when there was no answer then that’s it the kid is missing. Sorta like when members only hold unannounced telephone town hall calls. If you’re not home and don’t answer then your opportunity, as limited as it is, to question your member of Congress is gone.
And frankly the sponsor of the kid is probably undocumented family member and ICE may have already picked them up so…I hope that there is some sort underground railroad that is helping these kids.
Can we please banish Stephen Miller back to Mars?
And physically etched on his removed heart, while alive.
So when my kid doesn’t show up somewhere after school, I just call the school switchboard, and if there’s no answer I say to myself “easy come, easy go”.
Not.
Nor do we care where they are. Not our problem.
Check for mass graves in West TX, they already gave up on looking for “foster parents”, they just could not get enough to signup to purchase a slave/indentured servant.
or as was found in Mexico recently, check all those semi-trailers just sitting at trucking locations that never move from one week to the next.
Frankly, no. The sponsor under the law has to be a citizen. For the kids caught crossing the border the sponsor does not have to be a member of the kid’s family. In all other cases the sponsor is effectively exclusively a parent.
Here is how you go about it: http://www.alllaw.com/articles/nolo/us-immigration/adopt-undocumented-illegal-immigrant-get-green-card.html
Not what I was talking about.
“After Customs and Border Protection, known as CBP, stops and processes the children, they are transferred to the care of the Office of Refugee Resettlement, or ORR. ORR then attempts to find “sponsors” to take custody and care for the children while they go through formal removal proceedings in immigration court. Most commonly, sponsors are the children’s parents or other designated relatives or family friends. Sponsors are not required to have legal status and, in fact, many children are released to undocumented sponsors. For years, ORR has given priority to releasing children from detention to a safe placement as quickly as possible.”
