Discussion: Trump Admin Considering Plan To Target Immigrants Receiving Public Assistance

“Households headed by aliens are much more likely than those headed by citizens to use Federal means-tested public benefits,” one order reads, while providing no evidence to support that claim.

Evidence? Who needs evidence? He’s just pulling these EOs out of his ass.

I’ve heard Trump will name Bannon to the Supreme Court.

If a certain builder of “big, beautiful buildings” hadn’t received public assistance, through tax breaks, bailouts and generous bankruptcy laws, he’d likely be working in a soup kitchen in exchange for a bed.

Just keep rolling out one load of shit on top of another on them. It’s the Nazi way.

Just when you think they can’t get any worse, they manage to show they are the worst creatures on the planet. Comparing Trump, Bannon, et al, to snakes or cockroaches is an insult to snakes and cockroaches.

There is in fact plenty of evidence.

Here’s a report I found in less than a second, issued by the Cato Institute. It is entitled “Poor Immigrants Use Public Benefits at a Lower Rate than Poor Native-Born Citizens”.

This is plain bigoted hatred of the “other” simply because they are from somewhere else. An dt claims to be a Christian? I suspect Jesus Himself would get denied entry becsuse he was too poor and lived off the generosity of others.

Wow. This is stunning, overt discrimination. I don’t see any other way to look at it. Just more ways to single out people based on race, religion, or national origin. This is horrifying that they would suggest doing this to vulnerable people, who they already know have the least power in our society to fight back. Singling out immigrants is just more of the same shit from their Bannon playbook of white nationalism.

One more effort to kick people while they’re down. Failing to help them to get on their feet can only make vulnerable people even more vulnerable.

Heartless sick bastards these Trumpsters.

This is one more fight for the ACLU to take on. Time to make another contribution.

Wasn’t there a kerfuffle along similar lines in California back in Pete Wilson’s time, in the '90s? I don’t think that worked out very well for the state Republican Party.

ETA: Schwarzenegger is the only Republican to win a California gubernatorial, senatorial, or presidential election since Wilson backed Prop 187 in 1994, according to Wikipedia.
