Discussion: Trudeau Visit Marks First By Canadian Prime Minister In Almost Two Decades

Discussion for article #247182

He’s a brave man. Our country is overgrown with WWE reality show fans carrying concealed weapons and threatening to bomb the rest of the world back to the Stone Age.

Just stay with the black guy in the White House and bring a legion of Mounties with you. You should be fine until the GOP convention. Then all *ell will break out. Close your borders, build a wall and make Trump pay for it.

That is a lot of “fine-ness” in one room isn’t it?

Trudeau should run for President. Yes, I know he was born in Canada, but so was Cruz.

With the notable exception of economic summits and the like, for seven of those 20 years a certain US President wouldn’t be caught dead in the same room with Bush-lite Stephen Harper.

True, the evasion goes both ways. In fairness to Harper, his party skewed more and more to the right during his time in office, but started off surprisingly centrist in outlook (or at least he began by governing that way, with some very notable exceptions such as climate change). The Conservative Party of Canada would have been considered traitors to the cause by US Republicans for much of that period, despite being conservative by Canadian standards. It was later in Harper’s run that he began to surround himself with more and more ideologically-motivated sycophants, stifle dissent, take ideas directly from right-wing think-tanks, and so on. Ugh.

Trudeau has paid the ultimate compliment to Obama. Said he learned so much from Obama - that he was a deep thinker with a big brain. Thank goodness he never mentioned the size of his hands :kissing_heart:

I’m watching their joint press conference now … very fine!

Also just said something to the effect that Obama leads with a good heart and a great intellect.

So nice to hear from another world leader!

In the early years, Harper had a minority and could only govern if he didn’t do anything outrageous enough to unite the opposition against him. Winning a majority was his downfall,

Interestingly, Trudeau offered to build a beau grand wall around Donald Trump.

I love my PM!
