Rosenstein, Rosen, all those Jewish names sound alike.
(Trump is going to get really confused. Even more than usual.)*
Do these guys have anything to do with Julius and Ethel?
Rosen is literally Rosenstein without the stones.
Maybe this is unduly optimistic, but I sense that the GOP powers that be are putting a conventional Republican team in place at DOJ to validate the SCO’s damning conclusions and manage the transition from Trump to Pence. They’ve manipulated Trump into nominating his own executioner. Trump has cost them too much political capital and they’re preparing to pull the plug.
At least that’s my hope.
Barr - “favor of as much transparency as there as can be, consistent with the rules and the law,”
In other words it’ll be buried and not made public.
I get the same impression. Barr and Rosen wouldn’t be my choices, but it’s still a Republican administration, after all. These two strike me as being more in the “solid and sober” category than Trump’s usual picks, which tend towards the “unhinged.”
That may be a bit pessimistic. I read that statement as being exactly what a careful lawyer (unlike Rudy) would say. Committing to full release, without even seeing the report, would be exceedingly foolish. There really are laws and regulations that cover this.
Those were the Rosenbergs.
Or the steins.
“favor of as much transparency as there as can be, consistent with the rules and the law,” and as the TOP law enforcement officer it won’t see the light of day. Oh yes. The fix is in.
No! You don’t say! They all sound alike to me.
In simpler words he said “no comment”?
No, he was asked whether he’d release the report, and he said he would, to the extent he’s allowed to do so by the existing laws and regulations.
Sorry, but I just can’t get outraged over that response. It’s absolutely correct.
Let me guess, he was in charge of railroading things?
but has told lawmakers that he is in “favor of as much transparency as there as can be, consistent with the rules and the law,”
…and when I say “the rules and the law” I mean The Divine Right of Republican Presidents and the IOKIYAR exception to the Ten Commandments…
Or Al?
I very much doubt both that the DOJ can bury the SCO’s findings or that Barr and his team will want to. Barr is much more Pence’s guy than Trump’s. They are both long-time GOP fixtures. I suspect Barr’s first order of business will be to vouch for the SCO’s conclusions and neutralize Trump’s long effort to discredit Mueller and his merry band. Then Republicans can tell their rabid base something like this: “We didn’t want to drive Trump out of office but the facts left us with no choice. His own, hand-picked AG said so. Please don’t hurt us.”
Republicans get rid of the Trump millstone while minimizing the fallout from his cultists. Democrats can run on “I told you so” for decades. Everybody wins.
Rosen and Rosenstein are both the same politically…they are both very conservative right wing Jewish-American Republicans. They both support Israel’s Netanyahu and they are very active with AIPAC. So this is not much of a change other than Rosen is not quite as strong as Rosenstein.
William Barr is no fool…he knows who moves the government and he is not going to tip that boat.
This is very very good news for Trump and for his very close business associate over many many years…Paul Manafort. Rosen will be much more willing than Rosenstein to write Paul Manafort’s pardon.
