Levin becomes the second Democrat to challenge Issa in the 2018 election. Retired Marine Col. Doug Applegate, Issa’s opponent last year, also is running. Applegate lost to Issa by just 1,600 votes in November.
I can’t tell you much about either one, but Applegate is probably a much better bet than Levin for the district. It’s a tough district for Dems to win, but a good prospect with Trump in office. Issa voted for Trumpcare, which would give him a large tax cut, so that’s one point of leverage that wasn’t there in 2016. He also can be burdened with every stupid Trump move that he hasn’t acted or spoken against.
None of the politics will matter if turnout is as crappy as it usually is for midterm elections. My own representative, in a district that borders Issa’s, squeaked by in 2014 against a weak opponent, because voting dropped by 1/3 versus 2012.
After Rep. Darrell Issa won re-election by a razor-thin margin, the National Republican Congressional Committee has put him in its Patriot Program, a special fundraising and campaign operation that helps incumbents keep their seats.
Issa, a Vista Republican, is an anomaly of the 10-member group. Serving in his ninth term, Issa joins five freshmen representatives, three more elected in 2015 and another in 2013.
I hope that Californians will vote him out. He’s despicable, one of the worst, and wasted millions of US taxpayer dollars on Benghazi. he needs to go, and he will not investigate the orange because they want him there to sign their austerity bills.
He’s “disapointed,” and yet he continues to support the Orange Shitgibbon. Can’t have it both ways, sir; enjoy your soon-to-be retirement. Maybe you can go back to your old job of stealing cars.
