Discussion: Top Waco Investigator: Mueller Needs To Define Scope of Russia Probe, And Soon

Free rein. Not reign. The metaphor is controlling a horse, not something to do with monarchs.

ā€œDefineā€ should not equal ā€œlimitā€ unduly. The Russia investigation is going to include financial influence, which is going to take us to Trump-family corruption.

Mister Dowd appears to be willfully unaware of how these investigations work. In the past theyā€™ve morphed from a real estate deal gone bad to investigating a blow job.

But who is this guy anyway?

From his website:

Edward L. Dowd Jr. is a litigator who defends corporations, professional service firms and individuals in high-stakes, complex civil and white collar criminal cases and investigations. He represents clients before the U.S. Attorneysā€™ Offices, the SEC, DOJ, EPA, Health and Human Services and other federal and state agencies.

Maybe heā€™s just looking for (no pun intended) a heads up.

Heā€™s an Independent investigator. He doesnā€™t answer to folks. Thatā€™s why they call him Independent. No one knows what heā€™s up to so itā€™s a bit silly to presume youā€™re positioned to tell him how do do it. No oneā€™s fading this investigation objectively. You put your two cents in hoping it will buy something. Let the man do his job.

Waco. Not exactly a shining moment for American Law Enforcement. Mayhap itā€™s a tad early to insist Mueller ā€˜defineā€™ (read: limit?) the scope of the investigation.

Why donā€™t we just see where the evidence takes us, shall we?

You mean the way Ken Starr defined the scope of the Whitewater probe?

Dowd said that keeping the public, and even Congress, temporarily in the dark is a worthy tradeoff for a credible, non-partisan outcome of the federal investigation.

He forgot to add, ā€œbut only if the public, Congress and the Press are then made fully aware of all information related to the investigation.ā€ I generally trust Mueller, what Iā€™m afraid of is another Cheney/Bush private-off-the-record hearing.

Two words.

Kenneth Starr.

Go fuck yourself Dowd.

Sure. The scope of Starā€™s probe was the limits of the known universe, and heaven and hell tooā€¦ His rule about talking about the work was to blab every possible thing damaging to Clinton to select reporters.

'ā€œ[Waco special counsel] Jack Danforth and I both think it is really important to define what youā€™re looking into so that people donā€™t expect you to come up with answers on subjects youā€™re not even looking at,ā€ ā€™ Although I totally agree with the sentiment, if anyone thinks for a single second that between the Congress and the RW nutjobs that ā€˜peopleā€™ wonā€™t constantly be asking questions that have NOTHING to do with the investigation, deflecting, whining about Hillary! or Obama! or any other piece of crap they can dream up to try and obstructā€¦well then, I have some swampland to sell you.

ā€œNo one else should be promising immunity or interviewing witnesses until theyā€™re done. Thatā€™s the way to get to the bottom of it and really get answers.ā€

ā€¦ or running to the White House to share confidential information
ā€¦ or trying to subpoena the original documents key to the investigation
ā€¦ or shilling for the Executive Orders interfering with the investigation

Geeā€¦ he really doesnā€™t understand his party or Congress anymore, does he?
