I hat to say it, but Sanders is right. I donât think candidates want to put all of their time in Iowa, but avoiding that state is a bad idea. It used to be blue not all that long ago, and this âAdministrationâ has hurt the state. There is an opportunity in Iowa, and giving the impression that Democrats are ignoring Iowa could cement that state as red for a long time.
The US election cycle is way too long, way too expensive - and rather silly in some parts.
Wouldnât it be great if all the primaries were on the same day nation-wide? No advantages for those states that pull the primaries into the earliest possible moment to lengthen the election season, for example.
In UK they accomplish elections in a far shorter time.
The âdebatesâ in the USA are just plain silly and theatrical IMO â or at least the 2016 cycle showed that. Instead of policies and issues it was personality versus personality. Made for TV stuff. NPR has an âOxford style debatesâ program. That has more substance and less showmanship. Wish we could emulate that.
