Discussion for article #247056

So how are you going to walk back an endorsement of any nominee you previously approved, Jon-boy?

“Any Obama SC nominee would bear a resemblance to a piñata,” Cornyn told reporters on Capitol Hill, according to CNN.

And this is one of the “sane” GOP establishment guys.

Colored and covered with paper?

Oh, I know, lynched.

Fucking Texas.

This will be a fun quote when it comes to attack ads for his fellow Republicans in October. After they have attacked the justice for months and the justice is still popular.

How? They don’t plan to meet with the nominee. (Does this mean they’re backing-tracking and will “advise”?)

A ‘Piñata’? How would someone so obstinately opposed to Immigration Reform—or most sensible matters— even know that is. Inquiring minds would like to know.

Nominate a Latina.

This represents a moving of the goal posts. They hadn’t planned to hold hearings on the nominee. Now, they’re going to beat him up.

Soon enough, they’ll be offering her tea and polishing her shoes.

The GOP needs to make up their mind, because they can’t use a candidate as a piñata if they aren’t going to give her a hearing.

It seems their precious baby is pooping too much and crying too loud.

Hence the GOP is spending another day breastfeeding and strangling the baby at the same time.

Good luck with that…

He also said there was “no guarantee, certainly, after that time they’re going to look as good as they did going in.”

Nice little career you have going there, it's be too bad if something happened to it.

Maybe go the Trump route, beat their spouse and kids like a pinata while they're at it.

"This person's spouse knew all about this mud we're slinging, why shouldn't they get some on them too?!"

“What I don’t understand is how someone who actually wants to be confirmed to the Supreme Court would actually allow themselves to be used by the administration in a political fight that’s going to last from now until the end of the year,” Cornyn continued.

The Obama Administration announced it has geo-located the Breyer patch, and is preparing to deploy Le Lapin.

Stupid, stupid, stupid thing to say. Did I say “stupid?”

this nonsense has gone on long enough, the rethug party has gone over the cliff and is perfectly willing to take the rest of the country down with them. while Cornyn may be one of the less radical members of the Senate majority thinking of him as “sane” only shows how far to the right the media has shifted the political center. the country hasn’t shifted that far (feel the Bern) but the media’s play certainly has.
it is imperative that Hilary or Bernie win in November and we retake the Senate to bring some normality back to the narrative.

It’s progress. You have gone from: we won’t so much as hold a meeting on a nominee, to: we’ll hold hearings and clobber a nominee.

We do get it, Cornyn - the GOP is not going to affirm anyone up to and including Jesus, if Obama nominates him. We really get it - you don’t want to entertain anything the black president wants.

Has anyone assumed that Cornyn was anything but a rabid right wing opportunist?
