Discussion: Top Putin Critic Arrested As Thousands Of Russians Protest Leader's Rule

This is exactly why Trump likes and admires Putin so much.

OT: Is this what appears when there isn’t a comment section on an article?

I do think the Trump factor will cause Putin to fall. Europe has a new identity now and taking a lead role in combating Russia is a part of it. Europe has never been more united in its view against an aggressive Russia. I can’t predict when, but if you take a long view of this, Trump’s time will end and a new American President (especially a Democrat) is going to push back hard on Russia. Russia will be isolated and their weakness will be exposed which should cause enough internal frictions for Putin to fall.

Navalny has announced his candidacy for the presidential election in 2018.

If Navalny is even alive by the time of the election I’ll be very surprised. Considering the continuing stream of “accidents” that happen to Putin’s domestic opponents, Navalny’s got stones.

Actually I think this is the 3rd time Navalny has been arrested in the last year or so…but who’s counting? It’s a wonder to me that Putin hasn’t killed him yet, which sort of makes me think he might have a bit of a worry going on since much of the rest of the world is becoming aware of Navalny. Putin way overplayed his cards messing with the US, Great Britain and Europe. Looks like it might finally be coming back to haunt him. We can only hope. trump was a very, very bad and foolish calculation on his part.

To which Donald Trump replied, “You go, Putin Tang!”

Yes, he does have stones. Been following him awhile now. If given the chance, he might actually be a decent President for Russia and they really need one.

The Kremlin has long sought to cast the opposition as a phenomenon of a privileged, Westernized urban elite out of touch with people in Russia’s far-flung regions. But Monday’s protests could demonstrate that it has significant support throughout the vast country.

Wait, what country are we talking about again?

Maybe. But historically, being the leader of Russia has rarely brought out the best in people over the long haul.

Along with Trump never asking about the investigation into the Russian attacks, I’m stunned we’ve not responded in manner Putie would understand.
A cruise missile attack or mini shuttle space rock drop on one of Putie’s castles or one of Medvedev’s estates might telegraph our concerns, embarrass Putie and not harm ordinary Russians.

Any EnvyTweets ™ yet this morning?

Putin told his FSB Director “I hope this Navalny thing will go away.”
