Discussion for article #227367
As a news consumer I must admit to being weary of ābigā names terming them, for years if not decades now, āusual suspectsā.
Albritton who owns Politico is a Republicanā¦a well hidden oneā¦
Yawnā¦
Politico? Who the eff cares? Iām sick of Beltway hacks writing to please those in power so they can enrich themselves. Thatās why Meet the Press sucks. The incestuous relationship between these court stenographers and those in power is revolting. That is why theyāre ignored by all except the elite whom they serve. They exist in a circle jerk.
Oh, by the way, were John McCain or Lady Lindsey on the Sunday morning news shows, for the thousandth time, mewling for more war? And how was Timās son Luke on MTP? Strange how the meritocracy works. Thatās why no one outside of the Beltway watches these abominations.
Got an invitation he couldnāt refuse from Fox? Replacement for ChuckyToad? GlenBeck 's cohost on āDerBlaseā?
"Tiger Beat on the Potomac"as Charles Pierce accurately calls it. Almost as reliable as Fox for republican uhā¦stuff.
Is " top editor at Politico " a resumeā builderā¦?
It is if you want to continue in the āpropagandaā gameā¦
āCool changesā? Does this mean the staff will get a cut of the bribe money?
It is no secret some cool changes are coming to the newsroom, culminating with a sharper focus on owning our core areas of interest: Congress, policy, politics and the White House. You should expect some big new hires, too.
Cool changes?! Will they be doing more to win the morning? Are they hiring Mary Hart to anchor the newsroom? Are they officially changing the name to Tiger Beat on the Potomac?
And will the new MTP with Chuck, Joe and Luke now be called Two and a Half Men?
āAnd will the new MTP with Chuck, Joe and Luke now be called Two and a Half Men?ā
Great line. Thatās gotta become their abbreviated bylineā¦2 and 1/2 Men!
Hah.
While itās initial entry into the fray was promising - it has devolved like all the other rags (both right and left) into nothing but another outlet for partisan talking points and a complete lack of reporting - just another vacuous publication assuming gravitas it has neither earned nor a news organization. Politico is simply excuse for so-called journalists to push their own opinions and agendas - having no more value than the opinions of the āaverageā citizen while pretending that they have some āinsideā understanding of the sham our political system has become.
Think the disagreement over a process issue like whether to run or fewer photos of shirtless Republican politicians or over something serious, like whether Paul Ryan or Rand Paul were going to be the favest fave rave of the year?
Perhaps he wanted to rely less on Drudge and more on some other right wing bloviator. That would explain sharing the same goals but not the strategy.
Someone didnāt want to share the sandbox. The traditional teflon, resignation letter. He canāt sue them and they canāt sue him. BSBSBSBS
That site has been overrun by rw trolls and I seldom go there⦠One is better informed by other sites and foreign outletsā¦
HufPo the sameā¦
Politicoās business model, ever since its inception, has been to shamelessly troll Drudge-bait in hopes of getting a link on Drudge and then sitting back and raking in the clicks. Substantive reporting was never part of the model. I canāt imagine what they can or are going to change about that.
Ya gotta concede though that it is a great trope taken from a great, if super romantic, script: āRound up the usual suspectsā if I recall correctly. I love it.
āWe have very big plans for expanding POLITICO here and elsewhereā¦ā
Hmmā¦and where else would Right Leaning Conventional Beltway āWisdomā be a valued commodity? Is it even valued here?
āIt is no secret some cool changes are coming to the newsroom,
culminating with a sharper focus on owning our core areas of interest: advancing the Republican corporatist agenda and disparaging anyone and anything that presumes to stand in its way. Cool, huh?ā
