WH spokesman did say something about it earlier this week actually. But it was in response to a question about the various Republicans talking about it, so it can’t really be said that the White House initiated the conversation.
Senior Adviser Dan Pfeiffer told reporters at a Friday breakfast sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor.
“Impeachment is a very serious thing that has been bandied about by the recent Republican vice presidential nominee and others in a very un-serious way,” he said, referring to former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. “We take it very seriously and I don’t think it would be a good thing.”
typical click bait, but then again, they will bait so long as we click. I have long ago figured out that TPM strategy is to mix some very good reporting with a lot of clickbait, but I guess I am a sucker for clickbait…
If our current Supreme Court were not heavy with right wing idealism completely affecting every ruling they make, then we could consider their words more seriously. Since the fact is, several of them are on record and film attending right-wing meetings and literally supporting right wing extremist policies, millions of American citizens have absolutely no respect or belief in these so called justices, to do their jobs. Several of them need to step down now.
The Republicans who hold power are not necessarily those whom are so regularly put upon a pedestal by the likes of Meet the Press or FOX (pretend) News people. They are far more likely the people who hold the most milllions/billions of dollars over the heads and around the throats of the Republicans in Congress - you know, people like the ALEC folks, as just one example.
Appreciate the joie de virve – but unless you’ve got an actual venue where a (D) can employ that bullhorn-- you know-- in a public forum? Like on TV? Where masses might actually hear and see the resulting ‘shoutdown’?
All Scalise will likely get? Is a massive headache.
But hey-- I do appreciate you putting the onus on ®s for lying publicly and consistently. Oh, wait.
“We’re going to solve the problem for everyday people.” What a towering pile of steaming hot manure. The GOP is invested in creating anarchy and chaos. Their # 1 priority is to destroy our democratic government. And, of course, no follow-up questions. These Sunday shows are absolutely worthless.
You were generalizing about the nature of TPMs click bait; this is typical, specific Sunday morning click bait The crazies spew on programs we ignore, but if we tune in here, we’ll read all about it, and that’s the point of the spew.
I just can’t listen to republican’s anymore…they are liars, hypocrites and run on nothing but hate - I’ll take hope and change every time. I still have lots of hope that we as a country will get better and this President in spite of all the hate and obstruction and talks of suits and impeachment just keep doing his job.
What it is-- is-- the White House getting out in front of a narrative that ®s are in the process of contriving in advance of mid-terms.
The long, slow drivel about a lawsuit.
Which will keep the ®ubes interested and and mildly agitated.
A ploy with a tad more longevity-- differing from their Scandal du Jour strategy that seems to be wearing thin-- even with the ®ubes.
Once that has run its’ course of effectiveness?
Then comes the murmur of impeachment.
Tactics designed to subliminally attach a whiff of negativity to the (D) brand
all the way through the Labor Day-to-Election Day timeframe for the low-info voting segment.
®s know it to be suicidal to bring Articles of Impeachment prior to the election. They don’t intend to.
They simply want the innuendo to hang thick in the air.
For as long as it can maintain a stench.
And BHO and the White House Staff-- are combatting it by jumping right past the lawsuit horsesh^t – and making impeachment the topic now-- to defuse any potentcy it might have in the coming months.
It’s all Kabuki theater.
BHO is just handling it in a fashion he can best control.
