I see I’m not the only one with the thought…
Attention shoppers, Steny Hoyer isn’t the Speaker and there are still eight remaining months in 2019, thank you.
And they want to know why the R base always shows up to vote while the Dem base doesn’t. If you don’t stand for anything, why should they support you?
Hmmmn. This isn’t the first time Steny has said something really stupid though, is it.
Yes. This. “… its most important implication can be summarized in a single sentence:
There is sufficient evidence that President Donald Trump obstructed
justice to merit impeachment hearings.”
Honestly, I stopped counting decades ago.
But there’s your House Democratic “leadership” for you.
Steny Hoyer: Crushing Democrats is my business, and business is good…
(To paraphrase Megadeth.)
Politically speaking, the next steps for the Dems should be the following:
- Highlight how Barr is a lying piece of shit and is obstructing justice.
- Highlight how Trump is a lying piece of shit and is obstructing justice.
- Demand and get all the background info.
- Get Mueller under oath. Get Barr under oath. Get all the OSC attorneys and investigators under oath.
- Commence a formal investigation into obstruction.
- Build support for impeachment and then impeach.
- Get it all done by the end of the summer. That gives you plenty of time to frame the 2020 campaign.
Hardly. I can remember during the ACA negotiations, Steny came out of hearings like a figure coming out of a Coo Coo clock about every hour to tell us it was all going to shit.
Completely agree. Pelosi and Hoyer are the same age - 79 - but Nancy is very much of the moment while Steny just seems like the old man in the corner of the room who can’t follow the conversation and, when asked, reverts back to stories of his youth.
MD-05, you can do better than this.
Yeah, and Hoyer doesn’t take a piss without first clearing it with the Speaker’s office…
I supported Pelosi to remain speaker despite my criticism that she has not brought the newer generation (under 60 at least) into leadership.
I though Moulton was stupid and an awful messenger. Also not my choice for leadership.
I would have supported his push though if he was gunning to take down Hoyer.
It was my opinion at the time that Nancy should stay, and our future speaker (who ever it may be) should be Majority leader.
This shit is a big part if the reason.
GET ON THE FUCKING PHONE AND FIRE UP YOUR EMAIL MACHINES. This is outrageously unacceptable capitulation.

This page: https://www.dems.gov/what-we-stand-for should link to a page with nothing but the word “NOTHING” on it if they do not initiate an impeachment investigation. Hoyer can go fuck himself raw.
“Paging Rep. Jeffries, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, please pick up the white courtesy phone.”
Good choice!
Someone need to primary Hoyer’s ass.
Hoyer has just proved himself as guilty of violating his oath of office as Trump is.
I’m periodically frustrated with Nancy, but I do believe she knows how to manage and exercise power on the whole. But Hoyer? His leadership position was always a puzzle to me. I can’t for the life of me see what his talents or skills are. He appears better suited to be a Walmart greeter. Perhaps he knows where some bodies are buried.
Has Dem leadership lost all muscle memory of what leading actually is?
We whine and complain that the GOP dupes people into believing stupid shit, but we are afraid of selling people the actual truth.
I tend to agree with Hoyer. Let people vote on this next year. The Mueller report simply makes no sense. It basically contains information we already knew and then throws in some unaccountably chickenshit conclusions. In short, Democrats are no better placed today, politically and judicially, than they were a year ago in relation to impeachment and in fact are arguably worse, since impeachment would involve arguing that Mueller got it wrong.
Note that many of us were arguing that the time to make grave accusations was last year, precisely because you can’t let big, obvious crimes against democracy cool off for a year until they become part of the furniture. To clarify: there is no narrative that Democrats can lean on. Democrats have the facts–but they’re useless without a narrative. Trump has a narrative–no collusion–and no facts. He wins.
