Another translation: “I am desperately trying for some attention and relevancy, so maybe I should look like I am close to someone (Warren) who is getting that.”

How many back-handed compliments can you fit in one story?

The Orin Hatch who became close friends with Ted Kennedy still had a tiny shred of his soul clinging desperately to his bones. Hatch scraped that last vestigial remnant off his back years ago.

About the time Teddy died, actually, as demonstrated by his staggeringly blatant misrepresentations of Teddy’s own positions from the instant his close friend was no longer in a position to keep him honest.

The only thing he did say was 'the little lady." Condescending dumbass. She will run circles around you intellectually.

I admit to being shocked by Orrin’s cut-away during the SOTU…Time has not been kind.
Elements of official Washington are starting to resemble a touring mummy exhibition…

Actually . . .

Hatch is trying desperately to confuse the populace that when they hear the name Warren attached to a positive story they mistakenly think it’s Orrin.

He’d make nice with Attila the Hun if it advanced his agenda.

Hatch shouldn’t mistake kindness for weakness. Elizabeth didn’t get to where she is by being a fool. She won’t be played and has too clear of a focus on her mission to succumb to right wing tom foolery.

The mere fact that he didn’t discount her directly speaks volumes. Behind every phony legislator is a strong woman and in this case, she sits right beside him.

…I think she’s a very bright woman…

I think I’ll just hang on to that one…

Probably should have gone with person or Senator instead of woman. But she can never be as bright as he is, amiright? Kind of reminds me of Creepy Uncle Joe’s comment regarding the clean and articulate negro candidate.

Granted it’s trivial, but Geez, these guys just can’t help themselves.

Well, not so much the touring part.

More of a permanent, ossified fixture in D.C.

“Playing the media,” i.e., telling the truth. The media eat it up because a senator telling the truth is real news. See also “Man Bites Dog.”
