Discussion: Top GOPer: 'Let's Be Realistic,' Full Obamacare Repeal Won't Happen

Discussion for article #229491

> "While the president, I wouldn’t expect to sign on to repealing the whole health care law, I think we should be focusing on parts of the health care law that have been hurting patients as well as providers as well as our economy

They keep saying this, so I’m really going to need them to give me some examples of how families are being hurt, and how the economy is being damaged by the ACA. It has to be some proof out there, if they keep saying this. Right?

Funny…I can’t recall previous examples of republicans demanding others to embrace reality.

I guess maybe this is just the first time it’s been in their interest to request it?

“I want to put things on his desk that he would actually give true consideration to signing, because they’re good for our economy, they’ll get people working again, and they’ll help move the country forward.”

And exactly how many such things have you voted for and supported in the last six years? How many of his nominees have you held up rather than support the idea that both they and the President deserve an up-or-down vote? As part of the Senate leadership, exactly how have you provided any leadership to see that the needs of the American People are addressed?

That certainly did not stop the House from voting to repeal it some 20+ times did it?

Also according to Politico, the GOP already has plans to vote for a repeal if they take the Senate.
And I bet Barraso will be right there, voting YES.

Don’t listen to what they say, remember what they already DID.

This is the typical Republispeak, for we will not repeal the entire thing at one time, but we hope to slowly kill it by 1,000 cuts, that will ultimately render it worthless, and prolong the pain we inflict on people with health problems. Of course for the next two years, they will not utter one word, or render any proposals as to what they will replace it with.

What is clear, is that these rubes are already making their evil plans of what to do from day one, BEFORE they even know if they have won the Senate. The truth is nothing will change, and nothing of merit to average Americans will get done with the corporate fascist party having control over 2/3rds of this government, so personally, I hope this President spends the next two years paying them back for their outrageous crap, that have caused Americans to suffer, and stop everything they try to do in it’s tracks. He does not have to run again, so give them every bit as much hell as they have given you for 6 years Mr. President.

They are going to do what they always do, overplay their hand, and think that the majority of Americans gave them the right to govern by their extremist policies, when the truth is, only a tiny segment of this population voted for them in a handful of states. My prediction is, they will destroy themselves for 2016.

Pointless???
As in the 350 bills sent to the senate including 51 times to repeal aca. I would like to see the break down of how much taxpayer money was wasted just on this will save the country idea for the last 6 years. Then add in the taxpayer funded paychecks for a grand total to be billed by the taxpayer to each of those who wasted our money and time.
Basically, the gop is and has been pointless for 6 years now and I am not even going to go back and discuss the pointless gop years of cheney and all those imbecilles that think progress is killing everybody but, ______________ fill in blank.
But hey, lets privatize everything. Working out well for the rocket guys, not. there 2 -1 with more corners to cut coming soon with profits looming for a CEO/ owner/ largest share holder/ to a rocket not getting 100 ft off the ground. Hey, we got that covered, my bro is the insurance man. lol lol

The WaPo link below tells us the House voted 54 times beginning in 2011 to “undo, revamp or tweak.” Here are the various dates they wasted time with it and the exact language of the measures.

Actually it was over 50 times that they wasted time and tax payer money to try and repeal it, so they could appease their tiny lunatic fringe base.

It cost around $72.5 million according to Daily Kos.

That is why maintaining the Senate would be such a sweet victory for the dems. These asshats for one will have had their asses handed to them after all the bluster about taking them taking the Senate

“GOP should be realistic and target specific components”

Specifically… funding.

They’re duping more than the lunatics. Opposition politics allows Republicans to get away with doing nothing while the top absorbs 95% of all wealth.

Thanks. I knew the number was over 40 but damn - 54???

That people think the GOP would suddenly change it’s ways and start doing their job for the good of the country is baffling. I just can’t believe people think a party that hates government would actually be interested in governing.
Unbelievable.

And contrary to what Barrino says, they won’t be realistic. They will get some cheap thrill out of voting to repeal ObamaCare even though they know if they send it to Obama he will veto it. That’s what they do - waste time and money for their twisted theater.

I’d say it may be worth it to watch them be elected and then letting the country see them screw up yet again. But then I remember how long it takes a Democrat to clean up their mess only to have Dems blamed for making it in the first place.

Sen. Barrasso might now be asked by which matrices the ACA is “hurting patients and our economy”, because by every measurable standard it is of course doing the exact opposite. I guess the official jobless rate of under 6% Mitt Romney claimed he would accomplish by 2016 were he elected, and now already achieved under President Obama just doesn’t seem good enough anymore!?

Why degenerate liars!

I would be fine with their obsession with this stance by the wingers if someone…anyone…could articulate the reasons that this is a "disaster…failure…travesty…etc. The mindless waste of time and money devoted toward depriving millions of Americans of medical care is incomprehensible but completely indicative of where these drones are on the humanity scale. There is no talk about the benefits of having a healthy populace focused on preventative care and wellness…no…the burdens reflect on business profits and higher premiums that were happening at a ridiculous pace anyway under the previous broken system (best in the world donchaknow)

Actually, it was 55+ times. What an embarrassment.
