Seriously. A dim bulb to be sure, but smarter than I gave him credit for. We dodged a big bullet on this. Now, for the other two “smaller” bullets.

Yep, Rosenstein had his reputation slimed in less than two weeks.

Word is getting around…

Gowdy’s out, as well.

Cornyn is not the brightest bulb, but he can count. At least 5 of his fellow republican senators have signaled that they are not inclined to support him, saying a non-partisan person is needed. His job is to count votes, and my guess is these senators privately told him they are likely to vote no on him. That would be a humiliating loss. And assuming he muscled them to support him, and was confirmed on a party line 50 vote with Pense putting him over the top, he enters with a destroyed reputation, the FBI will reject him, and he ends up being fired by the next (democratic) president.

They might have done it…but what a difference Monday makes.

Do you suppose that it had to do with that portion of his interview when Cornyn was asked to pledge his loyalty to Chiselin’ Trump?

I was in the other day for “Guy whose name we don’t know”. See no reason to change.

He also knows he’d never get confirmed because his Senate colleagues know him too well as a blowhard hack already.

Texas Sen. John Cornyn tells Trump administration he’ll stay in Senate, is not interested in FBI director job.

Was the job offered? You’d think that if Trump is sounding people out, he’d “order” them not to say they were offered the job or were even interviewed.

I see that Gowdy Doody has also taken himself out of contention. This is starting to look like George McGovern’s search for a post-Eagleton running mate in 1972.

So its already down to like the 7th or 8th choice.

Each successive candidate at this point has to be aware of the fact that they are the afterthought of the afterthought.
There is no pride in knowing that they are just the person that was stooge enough to say yes.
