Trump: This is unconstitutional.
He seems to be one of the rare GOP billionaires with a well developed sense of self-preservation.
Too funny!
I read this article elsewhere earlier today and thought how “flip-floppy” is that? If he supported Clinton yet gave to Republicans previously, it would have complicated her Presidency as much as Obama’s. Sorry, but if you’re going to donate, commit to make a real difference and go all the way.
He wants to be last up against the wall when the regime changes.
But we still have the same incompetent political leadership and consultants at the top of the party, and the Democratic advantage is shrinking…
“A new ABC News/Washington Post poll released Monday shows that Democrats have just a 4-point advantage over their GOP counterparts; 47 percent of registered voters polled said they prefer the Democratic candidate in their individual district, while 43 percent of those polled favor the Republican candidate.”
So now Democrats are down to a 4 point advantage from a 13 point advantage that they had in December.
He strikes me as a guy with more than a quarter-by-quarter view.
So are we going to go through this weekly hand-wringing up to November? Ignore the polls, consider their sources. Put your head down and get out the vote. Remember - we’re on the side of the angels.
This looks like a different number from what’s been reported previously, which was the generic “do you prefer a republican or a democrat?” This is based (apparently) on actual (expected) candidates. But we still need to get votes out.
The whole “flip flop” phrase needs to go.
Changing your mind when circumstances change is a good thing, and something all of us, and especially our leaders, should aspire to.
What’s important is what circumstances changed, and whether your new position is a good one or a bad one.
Flip flopping is different from hypocrisy, where you claim a certain principle, but only apply it when it benefits you.
It makes perfect sense for a billionaire to give pocket change to both parties. Republicans to get what he wants, democrats to clean up the mess.
I read a longer article on him a day or so back. Lost the link. But one thing that I walked away with is beyond money, he has influence in terms of his opinions and picks as similar to Buffet’s inluence. So I imagine on the backside, he has had some interesting discussions beyond simply donating cash.
…or he’s trying to stay on the good side of the hoped-for Blue Tsunami.
Somebody is hedging his bets now that the size of the Blue Wave is coming into view…
What’s next, “Kochs for Bernie?”
His right hand giveth to the R’s
His left hand giveth to the D’s
All the same to a billionaire.
Certainly a bit of wariness is always good because we don’t want dems to start skewing policy toward donors who may have a different agenda, but I give him credit for a straight ahead, no nonsense statement.
Mr. Klarman, I salute you. Well trolled indeed.
