So they really didn’t bother to look into whether the corrupt NY field office was leaking to Rudy despite ample evidence it was? They thought text messages between lovers should take priority?
This is so disheartening. Who knew there would be so few people in government willing to stand up for the law?
Add: There is this however. https://mobile.twitter.com/kyledcheney/status/1007322502513811456
Another end result of Republicans “working the refs”.
Fear of leaks? What fear, Rudy was bragging about leaked information!
Totally unrelated to this but with all that is going on today I know I missed it until a few minutes ago. Rob Rogers, political cartoonist extraordinaire, was fired today by the Pittsburgh paper he had been working at for 25 years. Rumor has it he was fired for continuing to draw anti Trump political cartoons after pro Trump management had told him to stop.
"Top FBI officials feared the corporate MSM, run by conservative billionaires."
Fixed it.
To paraphrase every horror movie ever, “The election killer’s call is coming from inside the house!” No Russians required…
In case anyone doesn’t click - the jest is that the conspicuous lack of Guiliani’s name implies that he is under active and on-going investigation.
Comey thought Clinton would win, so he assumed that if he trashed her before the election no one would hold it against him. Everyone (including the New York Times) assumed that Clinton would be despised for everything she did (good, bad or otherwise) while she was President, so all pre-election bashing of her would appear justified in retrospect. Unfortunately, Hillary lost and now all those who went after her unfairly (including Comey and the NY Times) have to answer for what they did.
That’s the thing about gambling, there really isn’t such a thing as a completely safe bet. Of course, those who gambled on cashing in on Hillary’s presumed failed Presidency by mercilessly bashing her in advance are getting what they deserved, because no one forced them to make that bet.
Hillary was robbed and nobody in authority is going to do anything about it. We’ve fallen a long way in just 2 years.

Of course the NY FBI office was leaking to Giuliani. Never trust the FBI to keep politics out of decision making. Hoover set the tone and it has never changed.
disgruntled current and former agents in the FBI’s New York office. Giuliani retained close ties to the office from his days as a U.S. attorney in Manhattan.
So the IG concluded that the only actual evidence of any “Deep State” operation inside the FBI is tied to Giuliani and Donald Trump? That’s interesting.
I said from the beginning that he did it because he knew if he didn’t some back stabbing con in the department would rat him out.
If memory serves me there was a long dormant New York FBI twitter account that suddenly came alive with news about the reopening of the Clinton email investigation? At the time, it was speculated that it was spread by pro-Trump FBI agents. Am I right on this?
WHO is going to investigate which agents in the NY office are guilty of leaking sensitive info to Ghouliani?
Yes, you are very right. Furthermore, the dormant FBI account came alive with Clinton-bashing & praises of Trump’s father Fred on Nov 1, 2016. Perfect timing.
pacifictime, Thanks for filling in the gaps.
Endless thanks for the link.
Mistakes were made.
Just imagine how bad things would be if Comey had kept his mouth shut, Clinton had won, the FBI prosecuted Trump & co for collusion with the Russians, and then the GOP found out that Comey had kept both investigations secret during the election, consistent with longstanding DOJ policy.
Comey would get smeared on Fox, and probably also on CNN. Members of his own party would call him a traitor. There’d be an IG investigation, which would reveal that he did everything by the book, and so he’d keep his job, and the 65% of America that isn’t bat-shit crazy would understand that he did his job correctly.
EDIT: So, to clarify, that means the only predictable downside would be that Comey’s “fellow Republicans” would hate him (wrongly). Rather than endure that possible future, Comey made the decision he knew was wrong, very predictably throwing the election to a candidate so obviously unfit for office (esp. given Comey’s secret knowledge that Trump was possibly a Russian agent) that Comey might have been justified violating procedure had it been to sabotage Trump’s campaign for the sake of the nation.
Is Comey’s devotion to his myth supposed to be so unwavering that he would flirt with national disaster to preserve it?
