This enhanced toughness is welcomed but they need to start landing punches, soon

Clearly the Founding Fathers fucked up, by allowing so much power to be concentrated under the President.

If only the Congress had things like a standing Army under them, the president wouldn’t be able to just run over them and ignore them.

Starting to seem like they’re trying to back the Dems into a corner where opening impeachment proceedings is their only way to gain the leverage necessary to obtain any information, which they hope will be political suicide for 2020 since they basically control the narrative until some court decides that Congress is actually empowered to conduct oversight under the Constitution. And THAT brings us full circle to the GOP packing the courts and there being some not-so-small chance that the whole thing ends up in front of court after opening impeachment proceedings and some Trumpian kkklown in a black robe rules that no, the Dems can’t have anything they want because they’re Dems, at which point we have a Dem party who has pursued impeachment proceedings/investigations and zero evidence in the public sphere (as far as the vastly disinformed idiot Murikkkan masses are concerned) to support said proceedings.

We would be remiss not to express profound concern

Wow! That’s gonna leave a mark…

I think you’re right about the GOP strategy.

But it won’t go that far – someone from OSC will leak the report rather than let things go completely off the rails.

Agreed.

The expansion of presidential power is a modern thing, if I understand correctly. It’s got a long history, but my lay-opinion is that the process has been accelerated over the past ~20 years as Congress has become increasingly paralyzed by agents of the wealthy who obstruct any government action that threatens rule by organized money.

suppose they could have mentioned his lack of objectivity was thoroughly on display in his 19 page application memo re: presidential obstruction as well

One can only hope. Was only brainstorming the strategy, not the outcome. It’ll be fun watching Barr round up the entire Mueller team and throw them in jail with gag orders from some Trumpian judge though.

There is only so fast you can move and not - politically speaking - be perceived as being too political.

Barr’s comments on “spying” on Trump - which Pelosi and Schumer as members of the gang of 8 know to be false, was a bridge too far. That and the fact that the IG is looking at this, is enough to start to go after Barr. When the IG finds nothing, then you have Barr back and savage him, perhaps look at impeachment of him then.

Barr has apparently declared his independence from the Constitution and laws of the country, as well as the requirements, expectations, and norms of his office.

With the exception of being the titular head of the Church of England and the divine right of kings, what is the difference between George III and Dumbass?

The report completely exonerates Trump and therefore we need not release the full report but Trump and company get to say what they want about the report and everyone must believe them. That’s an example of the lessons in logic that they taught at Trump U.

Perhaps, but the potential for abuse was always there. It’s like designing a fancy “muscle” sports car that can attain speeds of up to 300 miles an hour and selling it to the general public, while under the assumption that drivers are generally prudent and rational and would never think of trying to drive that fast.

Barr is part of the early Trump Campaign efforts for 2020.
If Trump gets elected Barr will go to the SC.

The Founding Fathers mistake was assuming Gentlemen would exist in the GOP in the future.

BARR = ROY COHN
tRump has found his Roy Cohn in Barr. I think Barr should be equated with Cohn at every opportunity and never let the stink of being that unctuous an attorney leave his corpulent frame. And don’t forget: Barr’s son-in-law is a White House attorney. Do you have faith that there’s a wall separating info in DOJ from the WH via the dining room in Barr’s home?? Some how, I don’t.

As above, the Dems have got to start landing hurtful punches soon. I know we wanted bigger things out of the Mueller report & maybe there will be. But with the Senate GOP complicit, the packed courts iffy, and the press divided as to free vs propaganda, House Dems have to become the giants in saving our Democracy.

“Barr’s misleading claim that the FBI was “spying” on the Trump campaign…”

I haven’t seen this much hackery from a political hack since Jim Hacker hacksawed his way out of a hackney cab to hack the computer records of a hacky sack game in Hackensack.
