Discussion for article #231280
Dear Sen Menendez,
STFU. This move is 50 years over due. The best disinfectant is sunlight, and the US policy has been to keep Cuba in a dark closet. Letâs open the door.
That is all.
Menendez doesnât even know what Obama plans to do in ânormalizingâ our relationship with Cuba.
Until the details are laid out, heâs just engaging in political masturbationâmessy and unsatisfying.
yep⌠like the good little toadies they are⌠rubio just made the same points. guess they got those talking points in order real quick⌠lol
Fuckoff Bob, you toolâŚ
That wonât stop him and other hand-wringers from uniting with the Republicans to pass a law forbidding the President to change US/Cuba Relations without a vote of Clowngress, or some other knee-jerk bullshit.
Thanks for your appropriate sentiment. My own thoughts would be:
âCallete cabronâ
Two of the five have already been released because they served their time. I doubt the other three were in there for life, so would have been released at some point, too.
Good grief.
It might be in order to consider whose interests are, or might be, adversely affected by ânormalizingâ trade and related relations with Cuba.
I donât claim to know them all, but one of them surely is the Dominican Republic, and another is within the Cuban ex-pat community in Florida. From what we learned when Menendez was more prominently in the press generally and in the sightlines of the partisan progaganda, it appears that Menendez has financial backers, business interests and political campaign supporters in both places. That all suggests that Menendezâ stance here is a pretense derived from his having to placate and be a tool for those interests in Florida and DR, and accordingly is made largely and possibly even totally oblivious to the interests of the US as a whole.
The Cuban-American communityânotorious for holding grudges for the last 55 yearsâis up in arms because of the three people being sent to Havana while Gross gets to come home to the US.
For many of them, the Castro takeover might as well have happened the day before yesterday.
They all need to grow up.
If youâre prepared to amend your comment to read âFuckoff, Bob, you toolâ, Iâm prepared to endorse your comment.
This is SOP in Israelâthe swapâon a much bigger scale than this.
Iâm talking about going-forward.
Consider it suitably modified then.
And an embargo doesnât work (and hasnât for a long time) especially when weâre the only country forcing this ridiculous policy. 52 years is long enough. Hell, China is our banker and Russiaâs given us some damn fine hockey players. Weâll survive, even as we move past this point in our history with one another. Cuba doesnât pose any threat to us and harboring ill-will for the past is just juvenile.
Iâm surprised Rubio and Cruz havenât gotten their panties in a twist yet. But, you know its comingâŚ
Meanwhile, Jewish legislators are jumping up and down for joy.
Its the fucking Chanukah miracle!!!
Molotov, Mr. Gross!
So. Sen Menendez.
Does the Hispanic aspect of your surname somehow give you carte blanche egotistically to recite RWNJ talking points-- in attacking a long overdue action by our government?
Or are you just a narrow-minded assh^le who happens to have an Hispanic surname?
Not sure there are other possibilities.

Heâs Cuban. Hispanic in my part of the country refers to Mexican and Central Americans. Heâs best referred to as Latino. Thatâs what my Cuban neighbor tells me anyway. BTW, lots of Cubans have some serious issues with being associated with Mexican Americans. They donât often see eye to eye.
Itâs also in Americaâs history, from President Washington forward:
GUESS WHO SWAPPED PRISONERS LIKE OBAMA? YOUR FAVORITE PRESIDENTS
Or continue to die off.
This shouldnât be a surprise, Menendez is the same senator who conspire with Netanyahu to derail treaty talks with Iran & P5+1. By trying to imposed harness sanction.
This is another example of why America canât move behind their 1963 mentality.
