Discussion: Top Aide: Maureen McDonnell A 'Nut Bag'

Discussion for article #226073

So let’s get this straight: Maureen McDonnell’s own attorney is throwing her under the bus!

Do we have to wait for Rebuttal before someone focuses on what Bob McDonnell – the guy who was actually governor – did?

“…I remember getting a text message during the holidays…”

A common behavior of the people who preach their moral superiority.

Just another wife of a boss throwing her vacuous self around: mental illness.

What’s the attorney’s strategy? Saying their client was emotionally unstable and was taken advantage of by Star?

As a Virginia resident (NOT by choice!), I have been following this in the local news as best as possible (especially given the bias of the local news organizations).

They are basically throwing the wife under the bus because she isn’t the governor. If the governor did something in return, it is corruption. They feel that if the governor did something to please his wife, it isn’t corruption. If he pleased his wife because she got a Rolex, or money or … then that isn’t corruption in their eyes.

Stupid - yes. Might get Gov. Vaginal Probe off? maybe… People in Virginia are stupid!

Wow. Bob McDonnells strategy to save himself from prison is becoming increasingly clear: Throw His Wife Under The Bus.
They are doing EVERYTHING they can to paint her as a lunatic who dragged him kicking and screaming into all the illegal activities which we know is total BullShit as he is a corrupt asshole who never encountered a bribe he wouldn’t take.

So: she’s a lot nutty, and a little bit slutty. And squished under a giant bus.

GOP women tend to be that way.

That’s empirical.

If Bob, transvaginal prober, McDonnell will shit on his own wife like this, he would easily accept bribes and lie to everyone about it.
I’m not sure how exposing his personal flaws and weaknesses helps him but it does show just how deep the shit is that he is in.

The Republicans chose to promote a criminal, female obsessed freak to higher office and he stepped up his game. Is anyone surprised?

Sometimes it’s, um, imprudent for defending attorneys to get too, oh, narrow, concrete or SPECIFIC on their client’s defense.

I’m not sure that, faced with the prospect of being attorney for these folks in a criminal jury trial, I’d be above doing the same things these attorneys are doing. Juries are strange, and every jury trial attorney of any great experience has reams of war stories about things that seemed to have worked out with juries. They may not be correct on what’s worked (It’s sort of like describing the quantum world in classical terms.). But the stories of crazy shit juries get up too, those are real, and often spectacular.

What you describe is what I’ve read and heard the defense theory is. It’s all her fault, he was busy governing and she was busy being a nutty and avaricious wife

How is this relevant?

I get it that the defense is trying to pin all of this on the wife, because she can’t be sent to prison for corruption since she wasn’t the elected governor.

But why is the media falling for this? It’s a legal strategy that could work, call it out for crying out loud.

So what if the governor’s wife is an awful person? How does that change the fact that the governor, at the very least bamboozled this business man, or more likely engaged in a pay to play scheme.

Maureen had Antoinette’s ear, recommended she try this quack drug since it might relieve her MS symptoms.

It’s a legal strategy, pin it all on the wife, she wasn’t the elected official capable of being charged with political corruption violations. She was just a the crazy governor’s wife doing crazy things.

Yeah because she can’t be charged with political corruption violations, she’s not a politician, she wasn’t elected. It’s a strategy I’m certain both the governor and his wife are on-board with, it could save both of their butts.

Nut bag? Nut bag??? The aide is being too kind…

The “media” calling it out isn’t going to cut it with the jury: juries are ordered not to read media stories about the trial they’re on.

If you think there’s a serious risk that the prosecution team will fail to “call it out”, you don’t really know federal prosecutors.
