I like tpm much better when it waxes intellectual and thoughtful and pays attention to detailsā¦this article was not those things. More like a bit of emotional reaction i think. That being said ā¦mehā¦what to do with this sotu? 8 years of complete idiocy has brought everyone low it seems.
Your entire article gives Trump more importance and credence than he deserves. Perhaps the difficult choice is deciding whether Trump really is the state of our union because, frankly, he appears to be if everyone is listening to himā¦with excitement or disgustā¦and/or acting as his gleefully willing bullhorn in service to the gods of click-counts etc, Obama spent the sotu telling us Trump isnāt the state of our union and shouldnt be but, unfortunately, the catch22 is that to do so he had had to make it all about him.

Apparently someone researched the level of tRumpās speeches (if you can really call them that ā I canāt) and it was determined he communicates at a 4th grade English level. This was one of the most positive and optimistic speeches of my lifetime. I canāt remember the last time I listened to a politicianās speech and felt really really good afterwards like I did tonight (maybe this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnvUUauFJ98).
Thatās why I find it so odd that TPM and many other news sites ran headlines like, āTen Ways Obama secretly insulted Republicans!ā
Is that really what we should take away from such a vibrant speech? I donāt think so.

Nonsense. Obama is going to be a young, handsome, popular ex-president with a successful record as president behind him and no hint of scandal. In fact I canāt recall any ex-president like that in our history. Maybe TR, but no one else.
