Even though he has been convicted of this shameful behavior, these republicans, including some from Illinois, come forward to defend him?
Wonder if they made any money from Hastert’s little business deal.

I didn’t want to take the time Googling these Rs and when they were in the House, but you know if any of them were, they were thrilled to come down on Bill when they had the chance. Let me be the first: IOKIYAR
Can you imagine a fellow Democrat writing a letter of support in the sentencing of a Democrat convicted of paying hush-money to a victim of sexual assault of a minor of the same-gender?
O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!
And republicans have been nothing if not adept at deception.
However, looks like the times are changing.
No. He would be kicked to the frickin’ curb.
Well, Denny Hastert wrote a letter of recommendation for Tom DeLay in 2011 when Tom was convicted of money laundering, a felony in the state of Texas, so DeLay owed the ole pervert. It’s the least he could do.
I wonder what they said. It would make a morsel of sense if they wanted to argue that, hey, he did terrible things but he’s old and near the end of his life, and he did good acts as well as bad ones… But this crazy waffling about him being a man of integrity and loving the Lord would just infuriate me if I had anything to do with the decision.
Edit: I see that he’s not actually been convicted of the sexual abuse (can’t be because the statute of limitations is past), so maybe they were advised to not talk about it in the letters.
“We all have FLAWS!” Yes we do, however, my flaws never consisted of abusing teenagers, children, humans, or cruelty to animals. This man is a MONSTER and should be sentenced accordingly!
That would be the same Tom DeLay who led the charge to impeach a Democratic president for lying about consensual sex with an adult of the opposite-gender.
Wow, I had no idea that DeLay hated Hastert that much. Perhaps they could get Gingrich, Scooter Libby, David Safavian, Duke Cunningham, and even Jack Abramoff to all write in on what an upstanding guy Hastert is! I’ve heard the testimony by convicted felons is huge at swaying Judges toward leniency during sentencing.
Is Tom Delay moonlighting for the Touching Little Children network and hoping to get his bestie Denny a reality TV show?
Well, I agree we would show said person(s) to the door, but I was mainly referring to the absolute shitstorm on Fox News if something like that occurred.
Of course.
Fox does it when there’s no there there, however.
" “doesn’t deserve what he is going through.”
If he’d kept his hands off,he wouldn’t be going through any thing,Tom.
Tom DeLay? Tom DeLay??? Tom DeLay is the best he can do? Well, I guess Buddy Cianci, Huey Long and Wilbur Mills were unavailable.
All formers, thus with nothing left to lose.
Ewww!! Just Ewww…
“We all have our flaws, but Dennis Hastert has very few.
He is a good man that loves the lord,” DeLay wrote.
“He gets his integrity and values from Him.
He doesn’t deserve what he is going through.”
Jeebus Crisis.
Is every (R) pol a scum-sucking kiddie-diddler-- or similar?
Tom Delay sounds almost as whacked as the Bundy trial defense.
Hastert actually deserves worse than he’s getting BugMan.
You did too. But were lucky enough to have judge-shopped long enough before your conviction.
You are the company you keep Tom Delay.

I think this is exactly why the Repubs are so damned sensitive about bathrooms and who uses ‘em. They want the boys to themselves and no girls gettin’ in th’ way, dammit!
All the letters are here.
